Pard night stalker 4k

Did you get it from Sportsman Gun Centre?
Can you take a picture looking into the IR (IR switched off!!!) so we can see the vcsel

Cheers

Bruce

OK, did you buy it from the PARD website?
If you look into the IR (IR switched off!!!!) and and adjust the focus, you should, at some point, be able to see the surface of the device that's producing the IR
If it's a vcsel there will be a very small gold coloured square with 2-5 very thin wires running into one side of the square
If it's an LED, it's much bigger, no wires are visible but there will appear to be a series of dark bars running across the emitter , usually with a gold wire running down the centre at right angles to the dark bars. You should also be able to see that there is a dome shaped lens on top of the LED surface

Bruce.
I’ve tried to take the photos the best I can looking down the IR, but it’s difficult to focus.
Is this what you mean.
There is definitely a gold coloured square with thin wires on each side, which I believe is the vcsel??

Thanks.

I can't really make it out from the pics but if you can see a small gold coloured square with thin wires on each side, it's definitely a vcsel
If you bought it direct from PARD or other non UK seller then getting a vcsel based IR is not surprising
When Sportsman Gun eventually get round to selling these in the UK it will be interesting to see what type of IR they use
Frankly, I'll be surprised if it's a vcsel

Cheers

If the vcsel is the better ir, and make it more useable over the LED version then?
If this is the better ir, then why change it to something which is a downgrade?
Doesn’t make sense.

The vcsel is far, far better than any LED
However, Sportsman Gun Centre are scared that a vcsel based IR might get them into trouble with Trading Standards
There's a long and complicated back story to this, but I'm not getting into it here

lol, oh ok mate.

At least it confirms that I do have the far, far better IR model, and it can be purchased in the uk on the new Night Stalker 4k.

Thanks for the info Bruce.

Take care.
Ted.

Can I be nosey and ask how much it cost - including any VAT and/or delivery charges
Also, how long did it take to arrive after ordering it

Cheers
