I've a few boxes of .177pellets I'm considering selling , And haven't a clue as to how to package and price regards the weight ( around 3-4 lb) Is it as straight forward as to just package them and take them to the post office , Do pellets need to be declared , or just say nothing cheers

Small parcel upto 2kg is £5.45 first and £4.25 second at the P.O.

Over 2kg has to be medium parcel at £8.05 first and £6.95 second

Don't forget there is ressellers who you can get a cheaper service via by the same carriers if you were to go direct.

These resseller's often have their own terms even if they are using RM ,PF , Evri and others to carry them .
They may prohibit items or offer no compensation whereas you will if you go direct.
They can give you the service cheaper as they have some of the terms removed that you will get going direct to carriers.

If you do your postage online you can pay 30p extra and have it collected. They don't ask about the contents. a 2kg small parcel is under a fiver for 1st class tracked.

Worth noting that if you are posting a rifle or pistol, it MUST be passed over the PO counter to comply with the T&Cs

I often use Parcel2go, they have a website where you enter the details of your package and then get quotes for a wide range of services including some who collect from your door as well as dropping off at collection points or lockers. Don't try and post guns this way though. It's well worth a look and often the extra few pence for having your parcel collected is much less than driving to the post office and they often bring a pre printed label. Last year the Royal Mail were offering free collection.

I had a very bad experience with Parcel2go. I had 2 parcels damaged, filled in a lengthy claim form, and got no response. I phoned "Customer services" only to be told that the claims dept won't take phone calls I had to email them. I emailed, got no reply so phoned customer services again, got the same reply. After 3-4 circuits as detailed I gave up. Never did get the claim sorted.

Since that happened I use www.interparcel.com Same idea, the difference being that on the very rare occasion something goes wrong their customer services do what it says on the tin........ Help you.

Royal Mail also collect. You have to pay online and collection is just 30p extra. If you are returning an item from an online purchase and you've been sent a postage label you can book a collection only using the tracking number on the label. That's usually free.

Neither Parcel2Go nor Interparcel carry airguns.

You cannot use the RM collection for airguns either - they must be presented over the counter.

Some think as you can use Royal Mail and Parcel Force via Parcel2go, Interparcel and others you can send all the items that they carry if you went direct to them but they have their own terms and they often exclude compensation for certain items or say they wont carry certain items .

Interparcel here and using PF .

Click Parcel Force then hit filter and you will see they wont carry Firearms and or Guns (Real, replica & toy).

I asked Parcel Force why parcel2go said they did not carry airguns even if using Parcel Force and the reply I got is below.
It will be the same for them all unless they have the same deal as the Post Office has .
