Ok .. before I dive straight back into the specialist scope market... where making the wrong choice can be expensive 😞...I think I'm going sensible for a short while & have looked at CP 4-14-40 & 4-16x40... but they don't seem to have i.r.

Are they generally made well & have good build quality?
I don't want to go mad money wise as it will most likely be moved on before the car needs cleaning next.
Any other recommendations up to about £500 ish for now.

personally I wont buy any scopes now that dont have ir, depending where your shooting and backdrop Iv found some instances rets hard to see and its nice to have the ir option available even if i only use it once in a blue moon 👍

I think Optisan are superb scopes that punch way above their weight. Many costing more can’t get close to their build quality… I’ve owned a CP 3-12x32, it was fantastic! Never had a problem with the non lit ret either….

I’ve had loads of guns with IR, can’t say I’ve ever used it TBH…I find it more of a distraction than a help.

I've had a couple of optisans found the build quality very good but I much prefer Arken. The Epl-4 is great value for money well made with very clear glass

So which Arken ... compact ish Scope do you recommend?
Must have i.r.
3x12?
4x14?
40 or 44 objective is the biggest I require...I need to see pellet holes clearly at least to 50 yards!.

Hey Karl, take a look at a Falcon T50i plus mate. Pretty much everyone at my outdoor club uses these sat on £3-4K guns. Brilliant scopes and great value for money at less than £450.

They seem fine quality Jay but way to big & heavy for what I'm after!... don't want it weighing much more than 720g.

720g! No problem Karl, I’m pretty sure the Falcon is double that…

Good luck in your quest mate, I love researching stuff…

Something about the size of a Hawke compact SF would be nice.
I don't think Arken do anything around that size!.
Then OPTISAN don't do i.r on anything I want!.
I've had most of the m.t.c range so I'm not going there again although there perfectly adequate.
Vortex do some nice glass but they've also got some cheaper crap ones also.

Have a look at Element and Arken, both very good.

Primary Arms worth a look too - even their basic scopes are nice.

Primary arms do a nice SLX 1-10x28 (34mm tube).... I'm not sure that would cover all the bases I require... especially to see pellet holes around 50 yards.
It certainly wouldn't be the equal of the same spec Delta Stryker!.
I might have to interchange with two scopes unless I can find a happy medium.

GLX 6-24 is good, but but more than £500 new... they do a 30X as well IIRC...

If you don’t mind fixed mag, Optisan do the es10x44i which has IR. Great ret and very bright, lovely little scope.

The optisan eve or evx ( same scope just one has exposed turrets ) are great scopes , they come up from time to time on here and have I.R are well worth considering .

I have owned several OPtidsan scopes in the past, from their EVX range, and have nothing but praise for them.
