I was expecting a Happy New Gun Day last Friday. A new HW100X was sent to a via a local RFD. When I got home I opened the box it was a sporter stock and not a thumbhole.

Otherwise all seemed ok and after a phone call they promised to send another stock. I thought as I had the action I would clean the barrel check the ft/lbs so that it was ready. I noticed the safety catch was not working. It works fine out of the stock but does not work in the stock. It looks as though an HW100 stock has been used because the safety catch cut out is only on one side of the gun they say they have sold 'hundreds' of the 100x walnut stocks that don't have cut out on both sides and they have been fine. I wonder? Anyway once in the stock the safety does not work. During a further phone call it transpires that I have been sent the wrong rifle. The number on the rifle does not match the documentation so they tell me someone else has my rifle and documentation that does not match. I will not name and shame yet as they are trying to sort it.

So... this gun is going back and a new one is due to be sent! What a shame that my local RFD could not get an answer from Hull cartridge when the asked for info on deliveries as I would rather purchase from them to save all this hassle.

Do I just cancel the order to save any further hassle and wait for my local RFD to get one in?

What a pickle.

Did the number on the rifle match the number on the box? Either HC have mixed them up, in which case (obviously) your RFD should have checked, or your RFD had multiple guns out of boxes slimy and mixed them up. Bit slack though.

Anyway, If you look at other photos out there on dealer sites, it does seem that only one side has the safety cut-out. Here’s an example https://www.vector-air.co.uk/product-page/weihrauch-hw100x-walnut-sporter-pcp-air-rifle

Highly likely 1st fill of bottle ain't been done correctly either based on above info... I'd demand a COMPLETE new rifle or cancel order and obviously summit to sweeten the 'cock up' 😉
A 'follow on' stock wouldn't be suffice assurance for me IMHO.

If you zoom in on the photos of various suppliers, you can see that the gun the OP received (regardless of whether it’s the model he ordered or not), is a 100X, albeit with the earlier style stock. It did have the safety both sides, but only a stock cut-out on the one side, so what he has received is how HW had them.

Honestly, if you're buying "new" and the rifle is actually a hybrid of action and stock from 2 different guns...there's a deeper issue there imo. WHY is there a mismatch between the parts, WHY was this the solution, and WHY did the RFD have no issue sending it to you in this state? Somewhere in the supply chain, someone took a shortcut, and everyone downstream are either complicit or negligent to not notice imo.

Summit not right there as needs a cut out to work properly. His on & off the stock test of the safety proves that....
Wouldn't be the first time a generic photo has been used, when they've just wanged a standard HW100 Walnut stock on it to advertise the forth coming option in advance.
Yes the left safety lever may be removed but clearly a cock up somewhere 🙄

Yeah of course they’d be generic photos, but those would have come from the HW factory originally. I get what your saying about the missing cut-out impeding things, but it does seem to be how Germany had it, mistake or otherwise.

Agreed but they also showed pre release phots with Old style mod and not the correct one with flat rear unlike the sloped older one... rushed advertising media pics if you ask me.

As well as the phots with the previous edition standard mod, they released the initial release pictures on their Insta page showing it either with a XLK mod..
Wrong and thats Germany also.if you look on Weihrauch.de you'll see the correct set ups which may suggest another RFD may have released those incorrect photos to beat the media frenzy..

New laminate X Sporters have double sized safeties, the walnut versions should all have single sided as they’re still using the latest HW100 stock designs. Chris from Hull Catridge informed me new stock designs will be out, whether this is just a cutout for the double sided safety or a total redesign I don’t know. That’s another reason I went for the walnut option, because I wanted the single side safety as I have a CS700 to go on it and dint want to have to start chiselling the wood.

Yours clearly has had the wrong trigger unit put on it @Old Lobby, for some reason. The reason it isn’t working is because there the safety leaver on the left hand side is jammed against the stock. The stock will probably have damage to it as well.

That's a shame. Pop some full pictures of the gun up?

Thats a HW100X Release Sporter action !! Need a cut out on left side also, for safety to operate correctly in the stock !
Also proves the gun WAS NOT PROPERLY TESTED BY YOUR RFD BEFORE RELEASE 🤬

Lets be honest here, how many RFDs will check a air rifle? every rifle i have bought as been sealed or unopened from distributor.
Not knocking that,is what it is.i would rather check it myself first hand condition wise any way,if in person, that s why i dont buy mail order.
Do you think sometimes being a "air rifle" its not really taken "serious"? If any other licenced fire arm i think the checks would be more in depth? what do others think?

It’s back in the box! It was the action from an HW100x laminate adjustable with double safety (launch edition) in a standard sporter stock. That is why the safety didn’t work in the stock. I had asked for a thumbhole stock.
