Well I've been thinking of thinning the collection down for some time as my cabinets are pretty overcrowded and my beloved Daystate Wolverine R does take up quite a bit of room as its a deep gun it's almost taking up two spaces.
So I thought I would take her for one last spin the other afternoon.
I set up under a favourite tree of mine on some freshly cropped wheat and got settled in, and fitted my sunshade as the sun was high not ideal for decoying.
It's been a tough year for farmers to bail as its been too wet so this field has been laid waiting to be bailed for some time so it wasn't stuffed with birds as it usually is but I thought I might get a few shots non the less.
I just got set up and the farmer came on to collect some bails but he never saw my hide which is a good sign.
Anyway after they had finished three birds came in together and I shot the first recocked shot the second recocked and shot the third in as many seconds, a triple I will never forget the silencer doing its job and smooth sidelever making sure no noise spooked the incoming birds, sure wish I had that triple I on video, not a flap of a wing just instant clean kills.
But after that it went rather quiet, so I had placed some empty shotgun shells as markers in the branches of the trees in front, I had practiced shootinh them, when a woodie landed high up in the first tree, a long shot but for the Wolverine in these conditions I took it out with a clean headshot.

Shortly after a bird landed beyond that tree and was pecking about in the corn they weren't decoying well so I decided to get hunkered down on full mag and timed it just as the birds head popped up from the corn I sent it, and pop another clean headshot, my hide seemed a heck of a long way back when I picked this bird.
Anyhow I will miss this gun it's been probably the pinnacle of all my airguns over the years, the wood is a work of art the accuracy is unbelievable and the general feel of it was like nothing else I've owned, I shot 40 straight woodies decoying with it a few weeks ago, along with that fast triple today ill never forget.
But I've sold it to a good friend and I know he will look after it and cherish it, I have other guns that do the same job but the Wolverine will always be remembered, and who knows It may come back to me one day.
