Is there any preferred recommendation for o-rings oil.

the answer is yes both oil and grease
PCP you would use grease at assembly and or on an O-ring that you could reach like fill probe rings
if it was CO2 you would use oil at assembly because that is what you will be feeding it with that drop at charging time
if it was SSP you would use oil again because you can't get grease in a 1mm hole in the cylinder and have it flow
