O.M.G - I THINK 🤔 I MAY HAVE TO LEAVE .....

In terms of preventative self help for you; mittens or oven gloves
For the rifles; don't get them wet or feed them after midnight

It won't stop the expansion of a burgeoning collection completely, but can at least help slow it down.
A bit.

I was just smiling to myself reading these replies
And I had an aphiphany - part of problem is AGF as when I first arrived here with a shagged out BSA cadet to fix you lot basically taught me how to fix it , and so I guess what I'm trying to say is - I would for instance never of brought an old gun for fear of buying a dud basically..
That isn't an issue now as I have some knowledge how to fix them up , and if not all the info is here....😎
I've decided I'm not going anywhere

.

This thread is rapidly going to be the prelude to the 'what's your legacy' thread.
Which I fear in many of our cases is going to be a Police Incident and slot on the local news when they peek behind the fur coats in these wardrobes...

men I have been a member here for a short time , I came to fix my Dads old BSA up - mission accomplished looking and shooting lovely - the problem is I now have a breeding issue ( I know you did warn me )
My flock has grown to five with another one on the way it's in transit as we speak ,
It's slightly concerning and my woman is not best pleased 😄.....
i just seem to of developed a soft spot for the old rifles from the good old days ......
One is never enough; they get lonely.

Yep, like Donkeys. Keeping any of these in isolated captivity is just cruel.

But you may find some bickering between the break barrels and underlevers as to whom is superior, then they'll start arguing that the sidelevers are taking up more than their fair share of elbow space, and the PCP's will just be a bit aloof.
In short they'll all need their own space and 'safe' areas, so that'll be another wardrobe...

Mine are beyond the lamp post, so they'll have to go further than that n risk everything in there. Narnia their business...

Not having a sidelever, I went partly to the dark side with a multi-pump penumatic ... Thankfully, some of the other rifles came from the same place, so not too many problems.

The grand plan is the flock will be complete at that stage ..... 🤔

I remember being out shooting with a few mates, seeing dog and cow shit in various states of sloppy/crustiness... lots of fun to shoot as a mate walked nearby.

But the worst I ever did was down the old sewage settling ponds, imagine a cow pat but 18" deep and 70 yards square. As a dare or you're feeling sure footed and want to shoot bottles that the JCB unearthed at the other end of the pond 70 yards away you might walk along a narrow strip of soft earth only around 18" wide that they 'dammed' ponds with being careful not to fall in or put your foot in it.. There's a 'pond' on either side of this narrow strip of earth so it's a bit precarious and it would be a very bad day if you did fall in, bad enough just sticking the toe of a shoe in it. Crusty on the top, thick and fermenting underneath. Then imagine being stood half way along one of these 70 yard dams in an already precarious position along with 2 mates... and shooting staight down into the 'pond' with a .410 just 'for the laugh'... Immediately on pulling the trigger it made a hole in this pond around 18" wide and 18" deep, could see the earth 'floor' below the shit, first thought is I wonder where that shit went. The sky went black, we all had to move quick along this narrow strip with shit raining down on us.. "Run Run!" lol.

If you're going to do it, then do it properly:

Every time you buy a gun, buy the wife a cookery book.
Then if she ever make comment the response can be, At least I use my guns.
Reminding her of the washing machine and other purchase all made to make her life easier will also be appreciated.

When you have this condition (?) you have to think of yourself as a recovering addict and keep a tight rein on your "intake".
I was the same about bass guitars and spent many years pressing my nose against (and drooling down) instrument shop windows but not daring to go inside because I knew it was the start of a very slippery slope.
Blame my wife. Having met her in middle age, after I thought I'd called a halt to my music career, she'd never heard me play & kept pushing me toward the doors until one day I gave up & went inside. Now I get "What ? ANOTHER one !"
