I’m not into these HNGD posts, and this isnt one of them. Its not really a review either.
Its firstly a comment on how much I like two things and secondly an observation.

Firstly then a “well done and thank you” to Vector-air. A no nonsense easy to deal with business, that do not make assumptions about you as a customer and try to fob you off with either rhetoric or a load of croc that they are over stocked with. Refreshing in the current climate!
My brand new Snowpeak AP900 is, literally quite remarkable for its cost. I was blown away a month or so ago by what turned out to be a SP pistol at one of my clubs. My instant “oh its Chinese therefore made down to a price” prejudice was kicked out the park. So it was based on that I paid out what was the amount youd expect to pay for a 2ndhand ‘middle of the road’ well used springer on my AP900. Upon getting it home i gave it a proper ‘once over’ cleaned the barrel and made a slight mod to the had guard to accept a 5” picatinny rail. At no point have I thought Uh oh thats cheap and nasty. Whilst I havent yet stripped it down I am impressed by the finish of all the parts and cannot aim any criticism of any of it, simple as tho it is. Waiting for the wind here to calm down a little here so I can zero it but Im pretty confident for a short barrel it will be good enough.

So secondly is an observation, I firmly believe now is the time for us as consumers and the ‘big names’ to sit up and pay attention to this influx of latest developments from China. Much like the car industry is going to struggle in the coming short ( and maybe long) term with an influx of chinese products, then there should be some very worried senior managers at the big players in the air rifle world.
Many years ago we used to really take the pi55 out of Japanese and Czech cars and air rifle literally only came from here or Germany.
Now it appears the Chinese and Turks have access to the same CNC machines Polymer production techniques as the producers of parts of models that we now see as premium, some of the new Czech products are quite simply mind blowingly good!
One has to wonder in an age when pretty much the vast majority of goods we buy have been made in or have components from China in them - how much of these ‘premium’ models are made up of mass produced parts from there.
You only have to look at some of the ‘copies’ from Ali and Temu that may well have been made in the same factory as the ‘premuim’ named product and only discernible by doing a considerable amount of research to understand this issue.

I am very satisfied with my new SP, more so than some of the Premium named rifles I have shelled out on in the past. In exactly the same vain as my two Grand Power .22lr firearms. They are not a ‘premium’ brand and have extensive use of polymers in production but they dont need modifying or playing with to obtain the best out of them - they are just bl88dy good as they are.

Shoot safe and enjoy folks!

Some very good points made there. When I was growing up (as far as I ever did) many still regarded Japanese motorcycles as tinny cr%p. Now look at them...
I was cynical about both Chinese & Turkish airguns, until I actually bought a couple. Previously I had only owned British or German items.
Still wary about the spares with Chinese guns, but it seems to be improving.

I must admit it was wary/ concerned about spares but as you say time will tell. That said of course how many 80/90s PCPs have been scrapped because the firm went down the pan and parts had worn out!

I actually believe (hopefully wont need to find out) they are importing so many of these that sooner or later there will be a package of spares somewhere.

I own German springers, British Daystate Huntsman, as well as others. I have to admit to having more fun with my Kral and Snowpeak rifles. Time for some people in the right places to seriously take note of the competition. The buzz around the AP900 and AP1000 seems to still be gathering momentum with the second release batch selling out as fast as the first. (For good reason if value for money means anything to users)

So far the horrendous cocking action has been partially addressed by taking the hammer spring out and polishing the ends which were sharp and burred causing dragging on the action internals (lighter hammer and spring on order😳). Barrel thoroughly cleaned before use. Trigger set up and Loctited (essential as mine was looser than a 10bob hooker), Zeroed at 25 and printing quite nice groups. My barrel seems to like 5.53 pellets so a tin of JSB Jumbos (Weihrauch) and H&N FTTs ordered to narrow down further.
2 Carm mags on their way as well.

I like it and it has potential!

I have every expectation that the CARM mags will be excellent, please report back on these.

I make no secret of being a tight b'stard. And on this basis I have and do buy a lot of stuff from China.
And what you say is very true. Lots of things are made there, marked up significantly, and sold here as premium products.
Fishing and shooting are my main hobbies and I buy lots of bits for both. And a lot of things I buy are identical to the branded ones. Even down to tell tale moulding/manufacturing marks that show they're from the exact same tooling.
They aren't a clone of something they are the original usually just a slightly different colour.
I recently bought a ball head rifle saddle to fit on a tripod ( think bogdeath/manbilly) and it's absolutely superb quality. And I could buy two for the price of one branded one.
China isn't conning anyone. But retailers and leading brand names are by buying the exact same stuff and doubling the price. Umarex are prime examples here. Go and look at beeman/smk and you'll see a lot of identical parts.
But if a product is wholey and proudly Chinese people become wary about it for some reason.
Western manufacturers simply cannot compete on price, scale, or speed of innovation.
It's not a case of if china will one day be ahead it's time to actually start wondering how long they have been ahead?
