I just noted that the Wolfman store is offering QYS streamlined 8.64gr. I contacted them to see if they had labled it correctly. They responded:

According to QYS after testing they have found that the 8.64gr perform better on average so have decided to
permanently change the weight of the standard Streamlined (this came quite out of the blue to us and there are also rumors that they will be
discontinuing the QYS Domed standard weight despite the majority of the UK market saying that they are incredibly popular!)

So has anybody had experience of the new QYS pellet?

Still too light. They've just tried to bring the stated weight closer to the actual weight, bet they haven't changed a thing...

I have used QYS 8.48 for several years. In Dec 2024 I got hold of a number if tins of 8.48 streamlined but they came in the new style tin and logo (single QYS logo). On closer inspection they were about 0.5mm shorter than the original but all came in at a very tight weight tolerance. Typically the older 8.48 ranged from 8.5 right the way through to 8.9
These newly packaged pellets all came in at around 8.6 they also were by far much more consistent in accuracy than the older version. I have since found out unknowingly I was using the market test version sent out pre launch.
I phoned around and no suppliers had any of these new style in stock, then came the 6 month drought of QYS. It looks like they have scrapped the old design with suppliers selling out the Oder design and all new QYS mid weight slightly shorter streamlined moving forwards are 8.64. Just ordered a number of tins and I will feedback when they arrive and are tested. If they are as good as the version I had happy days because they were superb in all on my barrels. FYI they are the pellets I use in all 25m benchrest competitions and also HFT.

Hi taff, where did you order the qys thx.

QYS used to make pellets in 3 weights - labelled as 8.48, 8.95 and 9.56gr - but the actual weights of the 8.48 and 8.95gr overlapped so much I wondered if the pellets were made in the same dies with variable density lead mixes then post-production sorted for weight. Further details are in this thread. Then the 8.95gr were "discontinued" but were still appearing in 8.48gr tins. I haven't measured the 8.64gr but I reckon it's simply re-labelling, not a change in product... and perhaps they have conveniently picked a H&N number (FTT).

But, if they cut cost by reducing the antimony content, the weight would go up. Are the new pellets softer?
New ones have arrived and tested. Very good results. In answer to your question I would say they are if anything slightly harder than the originals. They have a ‘cleaner’ look and are almost polished in appearance

I've always found the QYS pellets quite clean compared to other manufacturers, especially H&N. My AA hft500 needs a pull through after every tin with the H&N. I'm looking forward to putting a few of the new ones down range and seeing how they do. 🤞

Was using them today on a range 'HFT500'. As others have said they appear a bit shinier/cleaner and feel maybe a tad more solid than the 8.48's. Chatted with the RO who showed me the current BR league scores and suggested they demonstrated better performance. Scores deffo up but I countered by suggesting it was perhaps more to do with general QC & consistency than the pellets being better than the 8.48's with regards to shape/size/weight & aerodynamics.. my own results went downhill from about July onwards when the last decent batch of 8.48's at the club ran out..... I guess its a case of 'weight' and see........😖😖

Interesting to read the slightly heavier new option seem fairly good if not possibly superior. Tried the 8.48s for the first time yesterday and they seem an excellent pellet 👍

Bit of a surprise reading this OP. I knew about the 8.48s being discontinued but the stated " new weight ",,,,,,
I've been using the 8.48 Streamlined now for 8 months. I couldn't believe when i had read comments about them being " quite a soft pellet ", as mines were as above mentioned, hard and shiney, ( you can put a finger in a full tin and rummage about easy to get your finger down to the bottom of the tin, no way i can do that with any other makes ) and the vast majority of weights of the pellets range from 8.66 to 8.78. You had 1 in 100 that were actually 8.48, ( on the button ). and never, did i ever see any that had damaged skirts. I've got bad arthritis in my hands and the QYS are by far the easiest to handle. There is a bit of a strange anomaly where they are a bit more accurate after i shoot a couple of hundred softer pellets through my S510. Baracuda 8's, JSB Exacts.

Well..... shot the 1st 25m BR card with my new HFT500 and some 8.64's.... humble pie time I think. 1st card a 249( nats navel off the 250) and a new high score. 2nd card another 249. As a combo they're bloody good. Down the range Thursday to replicate if not improve on last week.
