Disclaimer - I've not bought one, but this looks GOOD!

I'm sure we all took a minute to mourn the loss of the classic Ivar and it's amazingly simple convertibility into a very handy gun cabinet 😭

But what's this then?! It's like the boffins at IKEA knew that the Ivar was a bit too small for the rifle collections of the average plinker, plus we need lots of space for other shooting related gubbins, and they've now dropped the new kid on the makeshift cabinet block - the Kolbjörn

Picture the left side with pellets, targets, cloths and all those spare scopes we need....

And then a 52cm wide, 27 deep by 136 high double-doored gun cab! 😍

Annoyingly, I have two Ivars which perfectly suit my six gun life, but one of these could well replace them if anything changes.

The only minor downside for me would be the aesthetics of having a padlock in the outside, for those of us who need them locked away.

So who's going to be the pioneer this time?!

Plenty of space but doesn't look very secure for expensive kit - looks like you could open it with a dirty look ?!

As per the original cabinet, it isn't meant to be for FAC or intended to replace an alarm system or Doberman, just to satisfy the home office regulations for sub 12.

I wasn't thinking FAC, just how much a clutch of Springers & PCP's are worth but, I guess it depends on where you locate it - Shed, Garage, House ?

Anyone know what the two additional holes are for (or could be used for) at the front of the floor?

They are smaller than the air vent holes - and are even shown in the 3D view.

Yeh, I thought that too - I have just checked the assembly instructions and the door handles are metal tabs, and the only attachments to the doors are the hinges ... so I have no idea. I could only think of using the hole to bolt an extension to the floor with a corresponding clip on the inside of the door - but given the design of the cabinet it would probably not be worth the effort.

I thought it was so you can swap the layout of the doors around @tjc_dev & have the shelf section on the right as you look at it. But there's a central support- depends whether that pops in to them as well

I’ve got one outside for garden stuff, told my wife we needed something to tidy up but mainly to see if it’d be any good inside as an airgun cabinet. They are a bit flimsy as is but I’m thinking of going down that route and glueing some 12mm ply on the inside to strengthen it up and stop condensation. Not a great colour but a tin of paint will make it look like painted furniture and modifying the locks will help too, project for later in the year.

The additional holes are for door bolts there’s one at the top and bottom and by reorientating the door you can change which side bolts. The construction uses a lot of metal tabs that you fold over or slot onto for the shelves. I’ll take a few pictures later of the one we’ve got.

Now that sounds plausible and would be a neat feature. Many thanks! :-)

@valevelo thanks that would be really appreciated (y)

So heres a few pictures, sorry about the garden stuff. In the corner pictures you can see the construction method with the tabs. Hope that helps.View attachment 964946View attachment 964947View attachment 964948View attachment 964949View attachment 964950
@Rog1415 many thanks for the photos - your garden stuff is organised!

@valevelo said that the additional holes in the floor at the front could be used for bolts and your pictures clearly show additional bolt/lock points which is exactly what I was hoping for! You are both stars just what I need for indoor storage!

Big shout out to @MrBadger for starting this thread for air rifle storage the boss will be happy as my accumulating bits and pieces (All AGF's fault!) can be 'hidden' away. I like the idea of lining it with 5mm neoprene and foam filled fishing rod holder to keep things protected and in place. Consider @GhostRanger idea of https://shadowfoam.com/ too.

Not sure what the boss is going to charge me for my air rifle palace though ...
