Succumbed to a getting a PCP compressor :giggle: the pump exercise was getting a bit monotonous..

Bought one of these off ebay and quickly cancelled it realising that once I'd added a PSU it would be roughly the same price as a nicer one. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/396152799412 got refunded pretty quick but it got delivered anyway 🤫

Ordered this one and pretty happy with it, nicely constructed, big gauge, big filters and a decent set of spares. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114863983555
Filled my AA S200 and Reximix Mito really quick!

Made up a whip line for my BSA Ultra as the fill probe is not Foster QR (pain) but it's not holding pressure, suspect the probe as it had a dowty type washer and PTFE and I actually reckon the thread is damaged, so have ordered a new probe, hopefully that will sort it (y)

I've had a similar one for over a year without problems, do add another moisture trap , I use one each end of the whip. The one near the compressor took some moisture on, the other one is bone dry

Noted, the instructions say for ease put the trap at the gun fill end, will give that a stiff ignoring and add another anyway (y)

Just got me thinking now? Maybe it's the way I store my compressor may contribute to the extra moisture? I still store it in its styrofoam & cardboard box it got delivered in, maybe it can't breathe & dry out properly?

Hope this link works to show you what came out of my filter today
Bloody hell, I wouldn't expect that, and wouldn't think 2 months is that long.
I've pretty low RH levels in my workshop but still...

Where are you getting another moisture trap fitting from? I do like these bigger ones this type of compressor come with.

No bathroom Tampon raid options for me unfortunately

Temp differences or relatively quick ones create humidity, if the compressor and whip are warm and cool quickly or possibly vice versa that would create condensation, a reason possibly that that style of compressor says to leave the fan running for a while after compressing.

Keeping mine uncovered in a fairly airy cabinet, which also has decent sized desiccant bags in it, but will give the filter a squidgy test after a fair few uses

I also have one of these, it worked great to start with and then it seemed to take ages to fill my Brk Compatto, I got a service kit and watched a videos on the tube, stripped it down replaced all the o-rings I could find (it’s not that difficult), It works like a dream now and fills the gun in about 3-4mins. I have also added a moisture filter which is about 6” long, no moisture has got through it yet! Just make sure you run it on after you have filled your gun to cool it down and blow any moisture out of the machine.

I don't think a cotton filter is going to collect much moisture from the atmosphere. Just leave one on your bench top and see how wet it gets.

As you compress the air the water vapour is squeezed out as droplets because there ain't no room for the water. @BallisticBill (wot is kleverer than me) says think of air as a sponge and compressing it as wringing the sponge out.

I change out the first 2 cotton filters in my compressor every time I stop it. I use a one way valve after the first 2 cotton so I can leave the rest of the chain pressurised whilst I let the compressor coll for 10 minutes or more.

I tried to wash the car with Bills air sponge .
But it wouldn’t pick up any water from my bucket .

He owes me a wasted half hour of my life

Would just one 12 inch filter be Ok? rather than 2 smaller ones?
I have this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/36345927...P1Dx+d6251Rl4HRohWcWycNccH|tkp:Bk9SR5SU79rXZQ

Just fitted the other day so not had a proper run in yet and was wondering whether to add another small filter or not?

With the long filter I use this:

All this puts me off compressors I’d never no which filters to use ,where to put 1 way valves and the rest of it ,quite like those bsa 1s but don’t tick I’d bother rather do the 30 miles round trip to bottle fillers
So confusing

Very happy with my Wulff compressor, but we will be getting another in-line moisture filter 🤓👍
