Mystery car from the early 1960s???

It looks a strange amalgam of several cars.
Has anybody seen an original photo, is it all a deep fake?

I just bought a copy of the book on EBay - I think!

1967 "Buses, Trolleys and Trams" by Dunbar.

Just over £10 including Postage - so it should be possible to answer your question a bit more authoritatively soon.

If the women in the foreground of the big picture have been removed digitally to produce the small picture (as it appears they have) then most of the panel gaps are computer generated.
But on the original, front gap is wider than the rear one on the door, and this has been used in the interpretation. Either way, still too good for a kit of that era. Just look at the Griffith for example, and that is late 20C

That’s dedication for you Holmes. 👍

I quite like the Marcos/TVR theories
The headlight and taillight rake has a Sunbeam Tiger ish look to it.

Okay I haven't got a clue, any answers yet?

I assume there would have been a door handle of some kind as well but as they couldn't see it on the original I imagine whoever did the Photoshop work didn't want to guess.
I think it has gullwing doors and the photoshop has not accounted for that. That could explain the strange windscreen arrangement compared to the usual quarterlights. And why there is no door handle at the edge of the door in the top photo, it would have been at the bottom hidden by the people.

Front looks Marcos, rear looks Sunbeam.
Never seen a Marcos with tailfins.

It has hints of Daimler Dart about it as well. It definitely isn't a Dart, but it has a lot of styling similarities.

Sunbeam Tiger TS4 concept car is a popular theory. I have no idea if it was a real concept car or a concept created to explain the photo.

Seems to be the latter - probably.
None of the photos etc to do with the TS4 can be confirmed as contemporary with the original photo - and many (at least) post-date the Internet questions.....

AFAIK

There are parallels to the Daimler Dart / SP250 undoubtedly - as with several other cars.

The windscreen has different "A pillars" and the door shuts on the Dart are virtually straight down whereas the "Mystery car" has a distinct curve on the rear edge.
The mystery car is also way to small to be based on a Dart.
The Dart was a lump of a thing for a sports car, it may have taken a few styling ideas from it though.
