Everyone has their favourite Webley pistol. I'm a pre war fan. The Mk2 Target Model and the straight grip Senior are both candidates, but for me the wood grip MK1's take the chequered flag - just!
Very desirable set of pistols, in lovely condition, you have there.Everyone has their favourite Webley pistol. I'm a pre war fan. The Mk2 Target Model and the straight grip Senior are both candidates, but for me the wood grip MK1's take the chequered flag - just!

That cased Mark I is superb, John......it really is!Those Mk1s are very nice pistols.
I find it almost impossible to name my favourite Webley, as I love them all.
If I absolutely had to choose, my choice would go to a Stoeger Mk II or perhaps straight grip Senior.
But then again, on a different day, it may be a prewar cased Senior or rexine cased Mk 1.
I've yet to add a Stoeger to my collectionThose Mk1s are very nice pistols.

Must agree with your choice. There is a certain charm about the straight grip models despite being not so ergonomic as the slant grip pistols. Also, I find the sliding top catch more attractive than the stirrup catch.Everyone has their favourite Webley pistol. I'm a pre war fan. I'd agree with that Steve. The straight grip models certainly have something of an olde worlde appeal, but handling-wise, It has to be the later, slant grip ones for me. Not being a Webley collector, I think that I can be allowed different criteria for 'my likes.'Must agree with your choice. What a beauty !Superb collection david
Must admit I love the grips on my stoeger mk2 target, such a shame we didnt get them on the uk versions

They look and feel just right, and the combination of the wood grip and blued steel is perfect!Must agree with your choice. Thats very special.I was fortunate enough to acquire a Stoeger Mk.1.
My favourite Pre War model is the straight grip Senior. I wasn't a particular fan of the Mk.2 Target, preferring the stirrup catch over the sliding top catch.
Nice car boot find, bargain at that priceI have a Webley & Scott mk1 .177, it is in a bit of a sorry state although I have serviced the internals, new spring, piston seal and breach seal. I bought it at a car boot sale about 30 years ago for about £15. It was quite rusty and the finish was pitted, it had white paint splashes on it and the rear sight blade was missing, I was able to make a new one from a bit of flat steel that I had. The gun shoots well at around 4ftlb.

Very true....well stated!Proves the point that if it is made properly in the first place it will last.
