My search for the ultimate break barrel

Had loads and always come back to the .22 99.

However this original Imp them fettled further is something else.

In reality it's all I need and could and should be my only gun. But love the others too lol.

Pcp accurate to 50m happily match any .22 pcp I'd say.

Have both the HW95 and 98, two great rifles both really accurate, if pushed the 98 just edges it for me 👍
I also love the adjustable stock and looks of the 98.

hw30 177 for fun pinking & garden pests
hw95 .20 putting dinner on the table and humane dispatch just got a sc500 for it + its light weight short stroked piston 410 mm barrel and im working on a shrould sort of slim tec x tx200hc . threaded to take plenham insert or male 1/2"unf mod

Over the past 5 months I have been hunting for my (the process being entirely subjective) ultimate break barrel airgun.

I was intending to narrow it down to one but this has proved rather difficult. I'm left with an HW98 in .177, an HW95k in .22 and a theoben evolution in .20 just to round off the lineup, all bought of this fantastic forum.

At 30 yards there is little between them, the HW98 just pipping the other two. The only real differential between them all is that the theoben trigger is a bit rubbish which makes it more difficult to master..... All said and done really enjoying the simplicity of a break barrel and a tin of pellets.

The gas ram recoil is something new to me and feels a bit more "shocking" than either of the springers, but it looks good and handles very well. Once use to the trigger it was matching the 95. The HW98 is absolutely fantastic and if I could only keep one it would be this rifle, however I have plenty storage space so will be holding onto all three for now....

What's your ultimate break barrel?
No " ultimate", but there's sumpin' bout my .20 HW50s( 99)...

HW99s for sure. Have just bought a Katran and as I agreed a 2 gun limit with the wife I will be letting my ProSport go. The 99 is just more fun for me. I also tuned it so am permanently attached as it was an experience!

Tried a 95k but didn't get along with it. Tried a 99. Liked it. Had an 80 for 35 years but it was never as accurate as the 99. I do like my Diana 280. It's not the most accurate rifle but it's more than good enough and the trigger is great. There's something about it I really like. Picking an ultimate is difficult! From what's currently available on the market HW99 takes some beating I think.

For me it has to be a Theoben rammer, IMHO they are the best break barrel air rifles ever made, in fact probably that will ever be made. The Grand Prix was my favourite of all, I'd happily swap any 2 or even 3 HW b/b springers for a good Grand Prix.

Perfect scope for that special little rifle 👌

Have a 95k .22

Hoping Dm80 becomes well soon as waiting for an overbarrel silencer.. waiting for spring on the 95k to put it through its paces..

My 97k is highly accurate and easy as we know..

But as we also all know.. there really is something so basic and very rewarding about a break barrel..

And that 95 breech block is something else 👍

Regardless of which breaker is tops..

Weihrauch ROCK!!! ✔️
✊

Oh yeah!

Agreed , brother.
I like a 95 myself😊👍 mine's in .20 & " slightly massaged". She's keepin' my .20 99 company.

From my rifles, the HW80 is a joy to shoot.

It's a behemoth to lift and shoulder but so solid and accurate, can't imagine how good it must be to shoot an unrestricted full power one.

It's in .22 so not sure that helps things with the shot cycle and before too long the .25 barrel with be fitted.

Very nice indeed Sir.. sporting a couple of very nice well bedded in good leather slings too!
✊
Obliged, sir.😊 gotta have my " middle ground" boingers. The slings have seen some duty, no need to have a steamer trunk full o' slings - these have served a good while on my powder burners & get swapped back & forth as needed.

Had a 98 from new, wasn't impressed - sold it....had others since, but then had a tuned 99 in a standard stock, this got stolen - so went straight out and got another, did same to that too and I'm not looking for anything better 😉
