My pair of Barn Owls.

Lovely pictures, can’t believe I’ve missed this post for all these years!!!

One of my permissions has a lane about half a mile long, we drive down shoot a few rabbits then drive back up, revisit a few times over the evening, a Barn Owl must have clocked what were we’re doing and started to escort us down the lane, we shoot a few bunnies, and it appears in a tree, move to next field shoot some more, it appears in the next tree, One night it followed us for about half an hour, when driving down the lane it would keep at the same speed then slowly turn it’s head towards us but only when my mate looked at it, the look on it’s face was like, yeah, I’m a barn owl, what you looking at stupid!!!, go get me my dinner!! - very intelligent bird

Love it, great pics. (y) Thanks for posting.

We have a pair nest just a few hundred yards away and the box is monitored by a local group who actively ensure no disturbance as they're protected under schedule one of the 1981 act. We only see them regularly when they have chicks and quarter the field next to ours though we have a fluctuating population of field voles in our paddock and they are over that occasionally.

What we do have is a healthy and noisy population of tawnys that sit on the roof and in the apple trees and often set the dog off barking when I let her out late for a pee.

Awesome post with stunning pics.
Birds of prey are my favourite.
Local hawking centre was a regular place I'd go and watch the flying displays. Sadly not open anymore.

Superb photos and great to see you still have them.
We have been lucky enough to have tawny owls in a box i made for the last 8 years.
The female sleeps perched in the box entrance during the day.
Im not in your league as a photographer but heres a shot taken with a phone.
This is the male.
