Hi all I thought I would like to share my amazing Barn owl experience I have been able to view and photograph from my garden.
It all started in 2019 when I spotted a barn owl sat on my air rifle target stand looking down into the grass, the stand is in a grass field around 25 meters from my garden wall and I watched Barney regularly on an evening from my back door.
I decided to start feeding them when the weather turned cold and put an old log I found at the farm on the target stand to make it a bit more naturel, this is now called 'the feed post'
sure enough it became regular every evening I soon learnt it was the female taking the food I was putting out and that the male was hunting naturally.
I noticed they were roosting in our bottom barn where the straw is so got a good friend to knock a box up and we put it up in the top of the apex and they moved straight into it and have had 3 successful lots of chicks in 2020, 2021 & 2022.
Sorry for the long post I just wanted to explain how it came about.
