In the late 1980s I helped my RFD for a Saturday on his stand at a local country show. I told him I didn't want any money for doing it as he was always helping me with little airgun maintenance jobs. At the end of the day though he gifted me a little .22 BSA Meteor from the 1960s that had sat in his workshop for years after it got traded in and he'd not moved it on.
What a joy that gun was. New breech seal and away I went. Open sights and no end of farmyard varmints.
Funny to think these little icons were bagging critters for 50 years before the BSA R10 even existed
