Hi,

I will eventually be in need of a "bean can" shaped silencer to put on the end of a project spring gun. I intend to use a gun tuff adaptor as this is just a cheap experiment with a Meteor and if successful I may repeat it with another BSA.

In all honesty this is just for looks and to help me cock the rifle as the barrel is shorter than original. I have never bought a silencer for an air rifle before so to save me time googling forever where do you chaps source your silencers? The thing does not really even need to silence that much (as long as it does not make it louder!). I was thinking the 1/4" unf style fitting seems to be the most common? Also cheap... I have almost got a complete gun from parts so cheap would be great.

Thanks

1/2 inch unf is the most popular.
Have a search on here for member made silencers .
The majority now are 3d printed so not ideal to use as a cocking lever .
Look for a 2nd hand metal silencer like a Parker hale or webley ..
What diameter barrel is the meteor ?

Alakar that link is superb thank you. I had not seen any of this previously... I forgot about silencers and started looking at the Welsh Willy piston head conversion kit! I will peruse the section tomorrow whilst off work. Thanks again

The BSA barrels are 15.5mm I do actually have a webley slip on silencer that may fit but as this is just for fun I wanted a fatter, shorter silencer.

I suspect neither a Gun Tuff adapter nor a moderator will be strong enough to use as a cocking aid unfortunately.
You may well be right Andy, at a push I will just use a guntuff adaptor and an air stripper... its only a Meteor so I should be able to cock it

I too am reworking a standard Meteor.. and will probably be cutting the barrel to 12".. I will be fitting a moderated shroud that is MORE THAN man enought o use as a cocking aid..

@Gamocfx for information only... take a look at this...

Thanks for the link, very interesting. Certainly deleted member seems to be top notch with this sort of thing. I look forward to seeing your Meteor when its completed, they are actually capable little rifles even as standard if you get a good one.

They look good and at £50 are cheap enough but I was looking for something a bit fatter. I will certainly keep them in mind for the future though

He makes them to order, so it might be worth asking what he can do. I've got one on my HW95, it's brilliant.
