medical history from birth.???

I believe that the reason for medical reports is because a schizophrenic had a shotgun for several years, enjoyed shooting and never was a threat to anyone.
His GP retired and a new Doctor did not think he should have had a gun so he was reported to the police.
That is when the shit hit the fan and the rest is history.
Many GPs never knew people had firearms , people who could be a risk to themselves and others . This GP in your quote may have had concerns and voiced them . The Police then decides what action is to be taken

Like in the case of Mark Saunders , Did his GP know he had applied for a shotgun cert ? He had a 20 year battle with alcohol and also drug use . https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-11486194

The Police knew about his problems with alcohol , Did they know about the suicidal thoughts ? Probably not .

He then went on to fire the shotgun at other houses and ended up being shot by police .

Quote

By 2005 - three years before his death - Mr Saunders was drinking to excess most nights.

He himself admitted he was "out of control".

Some weeks he would drink the equivalent of four bottles of spirits. That year, he received a police caution for being drunk and disorderly.

In 2006, a psychiatrist examined him and warned that if he did not "abstain completely from all mind-altering substances" he could find himself being killed in a fight.

The other fear, according to medical notes, was that Mr Saunders would commit suicide if a period of depression and an alcohol binge coincided.

Mr Saunders' best friend Alex Booth often saw what happened when it did go wrong.

"He completely lost touch with reality," he said in a statement.

Did any of these people know he had a shotgun ?

At that time the police would ask you to get a report but if the GP did not get back within 21 days it was seen as there was no concerns and the application carried on .

Did he submit a request ? Probably not as he would have know his mental health and other issues would have been brought up and he may not have been given the cert.

( l'm talking schizophrenia and suchlike, not a period of depression that's been or being properly treated ).

The trouble is, drugs for treating conditions like these may be used for other treatments not relating to mental health issues. You wouldn't want a "locum" to give the wrong impression
I know this to be true as my wife got some for pain relief as many Antidepressant medications help with it . She got then for her chronic pain .

If you have them for pain relief then you do a SAR and see what your records say and then ask the GP to provide you with a statement saying they are for that only and not mental health issues .

Having access to your records could help in other situations like Mortgage insurance claims . There could be something on your records that will have your claim voided that that was wrong and should not have been on your records and you were unaware of it being there .

For example , You lose your job due mental health issues ( stress anxiety and so on ) that have just started and your record's have a wrong entry saying you had stress or anxiety and you were treated for it many years ago but you had never had it.

It was a wrong entry onto your records . You have not filled it in on your application for the insurance but when you claim they find it on your records and void your claim . You then have a fight to clear it up .

If you had seen the records before filling the form you would have caught and had it removed as it was wrong .

Absolutely,l know someone who is prescribed tramadol for their chronic back ache, that would flag up straight away under the new system .

Just want to know if anyone else has been asked for it on a recent application.
My FEO said he wasn't bothered about anything more than 20 years ago, so long as it wasn't a mental health issue or another condition that otherwise rendered you unsafe. I've never heard of a 'to birth' request before. He's not foreign and new to the UK, is he?
