I can't help but think all these boilies and modern baits used these days act like steroids , Carp didn't seem to grow to this size years ago , that's certainly one fish of a lifetime , but is it's growth all natural Shrug tt . If you wanted a large carp people always went abroad but they're even 70lbs+ in this country now , poor old record from Richard Walker and Redmire in 1952 at 44 lbs seems she was just a tiddler compared to modern day fish though

Good quality boilies are designed to stimulate feeding and weight gain in carp. They have high nutritional content and can also lead to increased natural food population in lakes when they break down. If the carp don't eat them then everything else will eventually, be that other fish species, wild fowl, snails or bloodworm. In Walkers day they only had a choice between worms, small potatoes, cat food, maggots or particals for bait. Boilies were a game changer for carp weights.
Obviously climate plays a part also. Higher water temperatures increase natural food levels, so the continent always produced bigger fish than the UK, and still does.

Wow that is massive!
Although the guy on the right may have used "the force"
At first glance i thought it looked like Obi One Kenobi

Certainly a big lump.

I did a lot of serious carp fishing through the 80s and early 90s.I personally believe these were the best years. Well it was for me and many of my mates..

I still dabble occasionally, but nowhere near like I used to do. Am bit of an old stool carper that still uses old rods, reels and parsons alarms.
I’ve caught many good fish over the years and fished some big waters in the past,, but give me an old estate lake and I’m well happy catching old strain wild carp..
