Man Flu - turning grown men to boys.

Some good advice. I regularly use sinus sprays to clear airways.

Any advise on how to avoid spending the night sneezing multiple times in a row every 5 minutes?.😅
I'm not sure sneezing can be totally avoided, Joey, but the decongestants seem to slow it down for me, at least.
It has to be said that I react very well to medications of all types but being able to breathe more freely could be a help. I doubt they would make things worse.

Im down with it now it popped up the other day  i feel its on it way now but still coughing and shivering sneezing -and i have had the flu jab

Pain in the arse man. My only positive is I'm thinking 'get it now, healthy over Christmas' 🤣

It's funny how we can man up over different things...

I broke my elbow once, and continued to struggle through a manual job.

I broke my ankle half way down Snowdon, and managed to walk back to the bottom.

My good lady is bed bound if she has abit of tummy ache, yet I'll go to work if I'm shitting through the eye of a needle.

...but it seems, for whatever reason, my kryptonite is the common man flu.
When I get a cold, I'm a coughing, sneezing, useless blob with a body temperature of 278⁰c. My head feels like it's being stamped on, my throat feels like it has a golf ball in it and my nose....it pours. And I mean constantly for 2-3 days, to the point where I can't do anything productive even if I wanted to. I must go through 5 or 6 boxes of tissues.

It's flipping infuriating that my body is so weak for a stupid cold. 🤣 Luckily I rarely get one, but still.

Is anyone else a fanny and struggle with the man flu like me?

Anyway, if you don't hear from me this time next week, it's killed me, write nice things about me.
In the last 24 months I’ve had two full knee replacements and hip, no sweat but for 10 days now I’ve had a cough sore throat snotty beak etc. It’s knocked me for six and a half. Spent a fortune on cold remedies why are we so rubbish with colds 🧐🧐

I've got a dose at the moment (manflu) producing more snot than a toddler! And coughing up mouthfuls of green stuff 🤢, but I'm soldiering on!!
Joking aside, real Flu is evil, I've had it twice, once as a nipper and when there was a bit of a pandemic (bird or pig version, cant recall which) I was prescribed Tamiflu and that cleared it up in a couple of days, scary few days hallucinating , shivering violently and sweating at the same time first though
You worried me with you first 4 words. I used to be a sailor ☠️☠️

Women mock the manflu, but it's clinically proven to be the only thing more painful than childbirth.
I always say women claim childbirth is the most painful experience a human can have, but they want to do it again after the first time... I wouldn't want to get smacked in the plums even once, let alone multiple times. 🤣

I made it through the night lads.
I'm still with you!

I'm so brave.
The linky was not a go by the way, my missus remembered it from years ago when I had flu, and reckoned it was me! :(:)

Hope it gets better, was at a music / guitar club last night and 4 people had rang in with similar sounding stuff, so as they say, "there is a lot of it about"

Haha It was hilarious....and spot on accurate 🤣🤣

My good lady had it last week and it gave her an ear infection. She's on antibiotics now. One of the few times I've ever known her to take time off work in the 10yrs we've been together. (more due to the ear infection than the cold).

Interesting to witness is the pour souls who are terribly afflicted with this dreadful virus, the man flu, usually find solace in each other's company in the Kings Arms, meeting time is when the bolts get slid back

It's a genuine "thing" that I think women don't understand, certainly from my point of view/how I feel about it.

I'm 6ft3, in reasonable shape for mid 30s, have always been a strong person both physically/mentally, have had a lot of physical injuries here and abroad over my life and I would take a bone break over the flu.

I also have a pretty robust immune system. I get maybe one cold every few years and i just go to work/about my life as normal but when I get the flu, it really messes me up.

I hate having the flu. It's the most pointless affliction ever but the biggest thing for me is the feeling of weakness and vulnerability. I never feel vulnerable at any other time but when I've got the flu, it really gets to me mentally.

I'm not just laying in bed being a fanny. Im just safe-er there.
Spoke about it and now I've bloody cursed myself haven't I. Haven't had a cold since early 2022. Currently feel like I've had the shit kicked out of me

I've just got a negative on a Covid test, so it must be an extra strong jungle fever strain of man-flu, if you've got man-flu, I've got man-fluer, 😏🤣
Work makes me forget about it, it's when I stop I can't start again.🙄

-try taking ecinacea through the flu season, helped me a lot

Yep, I get it maybe once every couple of years, knocks me out for few days, coughing, wheezing, spluttering, achey, sore nose, sore throat, etc. But luckily after couple of days its usually getting better. What I have found is that as you get older, these tend to get worse and it takes a bit longer to get over it, not just with Man Flu, but with everything! Get some rest, take the meds and get well soon. (y)
This is the really frustrating thing. Up until I retired at 68, I never needed a day off sick apart a week each time for cardiac stents. This year alone, I have had Covid bad in the Spring, Covid mild in September, and man flu bad for two weeks just.
