makita or dewalt

I'm still using a Makita 9.6v stick battery drill...
It just keeps going and I don't feel under powered even at the lower voltage.
Although when my garage got burgled - the thieves opened the case and left it behind they were so disgusted with it 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I’ve been Makita all my life, daily heavy use, but by default I’ve now got Milwaukee too
i don’t do as much now with power tools but the M/wee is impressive, also got a snap on
branded impact that’s years old but soldiers on to great effect ( wouldn’t pay the retail though)

My Bosch blue cordless drill died years before and the batteries were very expensive.
Mind you none of then are particularly cheap for decent ones.

I've got a DeWalt depo/customer centre local. Their returns service seemed excellent so no brainer for me. I've got a drill and impact wrench 950nm.

I had a black and decker drill pack up (same company). Walked in the depo with no receipt and the guy looked at the battery pack and charger. Confirmed battery was toast and replaced the pair free of charge.

That been said ive never had a issue with my DeWalt items but it's nice to know the service is good.

The Hubster buys Dewalt.
He says he prefers Dewalt to Makita, but wasn't specific in reply , just said "personal choice, .."depends what you use it for"

Important thing is, it's the batteries ... so buy the best tool for your most used kit, then stick to that brand.

Dewalt for me mostly , Makita might have a bigger range of kit and usually a bit cheaper .

Makita - Keep your eyes open at Screwfix / Toolstation they often have good offers on this time of year.

I’ve had both dewalt and makita for diy purposes and both gave up but I think it was more lack of use rather than over use

Gone down the Einhell route this time
German quality and slightly cheaper than D & M so let’s see how they perform
Tool station have some good deals on them as well which helps

All similar, it’s a bit like cars one bloke likes Audi the other bmw.

I’m Makita, and a joiner.

Big difference in my experience between DeWalt and Makita is the service if it goes wrong. Makita they collect it to a central location, sort it out and send it back (all logged on a ticket system). Same with hikoki

DeWalt you basically have to post it to a tool shop at your own expense and risk.

The reality is both have some good and some bad tools. Makita range is much bigger and crosses over in to gardening.

I have recently been in this same conundrum. I had one of each.

I was going to go with Milwaukee, but then a sudden change of events and I’ve gone with Makita over Dewalt and Milwaukee.

I’m yet to be disappointed, Makita are just great, even if they are green.

I also work on sites all over the country in the harshest of environments and find that the majority use Makita.
