LOOKING ADVICE ON HUNTING AIR GUN 75-125 YARD FAC AIR RIFLE

I've finally given up chasing my tail trying to get my FAC Impact M4 shooting consistently. I'm at the point where I just want a rifle that comes out of the box and is capable of accurate, repeatable shooting at 75-125 yards without endless tuning, tweaking, or chasing settings.

I've been doing a bit of research and AI searches, and the BRK Ghost seems to come up as one of the top recommendations every time. However, I'd rather hear from people with real-world experience than rely on search results.

For those who shoot regularly at 75-125 yards, what would you recommend? Is the BRK Ghost really as good as people say, or are there other rifles I should be looking at? Reliability, consistency, and minimal tuning are my main priorities.

I'd be interested to hear what you're using and how it's performed over time.

No advice on FAC air, sorry to throw a spanner in the works, but have you considered a .22lr rifle

Can recommend Ghost. My FAC .22 consistently accurate at 1/2 power ( number 10 ) with JTS pellets. Took some time to bed in and now bob on.

AGT Vulcan 3 with 700mm barrel, in .25 is a good choice

I had an FX Maveric it was here good for rabbits, using slugs it would easily do 50ft lb a head shot and the rabbit would n’t even twitch when it fell. I do agree with the .177 hmr it is a very safe round, the only downfall is the supersonic crack which means it cannot be silenced.

The HMR muzzle report will always be a bit of a drawback, but can be moderated to a degree, and the lay out of your permission can also make this better (or worse) in some circumstances.
I purchased my HMR in 2006, and used it on several permissions in England & Scotland, and it is the perfect tool to take over from the LR, which is a 75 yard cartridge on the rabbits (IMO).
The biggest drawback today, is the eye watering cost of the ammo, the going rate appears to be around the £20 a box mark - in 2006 i seem to remember paying less than that for 2 boxes, so if you are looking after a heavily populated permission, this may well become a factor, and an occasion when FAC air may well be a better option.

Keep away from the hp ghost, probably the worst air rifle I've owned.The sub 12 one l had was good so l bought the hp,after a second barrel under warranty it still wouldn't group to an acceptable level.Both my MK2 .22 and MK4 .25 impacts ( using the scopes BC) regularly do the distance your refering to,but do need a bit of messing around with.Owning an FAC impact is a hobby in itself.The Vulcan V3 would be my suggestion ( l had a 700 mm .22 ) it was ultra quiet and once set just leave alone and shoot.l enjoy shooting air rifles but nothing would tempt me away from .22 lr and then 17 hmr for a bit more distance.

Have to say was reading about a guy with an 30lb air rifle. He said he wished he just went on to get an. 22lr.

standard easy shot every time
It can be done with fac air but it's pushing it and you WILL have problems the trajectory is like a cricket ball .
Hmr and fac air are not in the shame league

75/80 yds is max distance for LR and 125 yds is perfect for HMR
i have both and the hummer gets more outings than the LR as it's more versatile BUT far noisier.

My Ghost HP.25 has been excellent from the day I set it up and, all things being equal, it is used regularly on five permissions. Just the other night I was picking off targets with it at 65m on the far side of a field with a 5mph-7mph cross-wind - that was with JSB 33.95gr pellets at about 920fps. Above 75m and out to about 120m I will use .17HMR; I prefer not to push my limited skill betond that.

Just about all my shooting with both rifles is done standing with the rifle on a lightweight (ish) tripod so that I can shoot over longer grass, gates etc and move around easily.

The Ghost is much more economical than the .17HMR and at night or with decent cover during the daytime, getting within range is no problem. I have not tried it with slugs because for my shooting there is no requirement. I'm not even sure how much they cost but it might be worth checking, especially if you have a lot to 'clear up'.

Couldn't agree more, especially at the moment while I play catch-up on a few permissions I've ot been able to visit for a while, bunnies being bunnies and all.

I appreciate you may be somewhat scunnard with FX but having had a lot of fac rifles my FX King has been a breeze to tune and once set up has shot very well. It is in .25 cal. I also have a rimfire but the airgun gets used more because I like airguns and can easily flit between 25g pellets and 34g slugs. Not stretched its legs yet as only had it a month but it is very easy to tune and very repeatable. If FX not your thing a properly set up Vulcan 3 would be a great tool, albeit not as easy to adjust and tune as the King. As an aside feel free to post on here what's going on with the impact as I am sure we can assist. Alternatively if you pm me happy to take a call as I appreciate tuning fx guns can be a ball ache at first....

At those ranges .22lr is the better option in my opinion as you are going to need to sling slugs or heavy pellets at similar velocities. Unless of course you only have FAC air on your ticket. I would personally go with an AGT Vulcan or Airmaks Krait over the Ghost as from my research into FAC air the Ghost appears to be a bit hit or miss with getting an accurate barrel.

Hello, Look at a BSA R 10 FAC in 22, Lot of shots per fill

100 yrd zero
15 - 120 yards bang dead. On a still night more
22 lr too loopy too bouncy
Fac air too loopy too SLOW too much aggravations
heavy slugs bounce ( not far tbh)
I have 3 large rabbit problem areas nothing in my Armoury could match the HMR.
Fac air is fun but it's not for industrial numbers.
If you NEED large numbers of rabbits dead on large chunks of land quickly HMR is the practical answer.
For sport hunting anything will work.
