This is what I don't get, if we say 12b is .729" and you shoot a 1/4 choke let's just for arguments sake say the choke narrows down to .719" (a 0.010" constriction), its still the same for whatever length choke isn't it?The more progressive angle on an extended choke tube might, maybe, perhaps mean slightly less distortion to the pellets and might, maybe, perhaps results in a slightly more consistent pattern.
I doubt they'd change the pattern size in any appreciable way.
Yeah I don't think they make a difference really, at least not one most of us will notice. This is what I don't get, if we say 12b is .729" and you shoot a 1/4 choke let's just for arguments sake say the choke narrows down to .719" (a 0.010" constriction), its still the same for whatever length choke isn't it?
Whether it's over 1.5" length or 3-4" length!
I shoot extended chokes I'm my 682 gold E but that's just because they came with it, I'm not in any way about to buy extended choke for any of my other shotguns, I've still got to aim in the right place which is probably 99.9% of the trouble when I miss.
True, I’m sure we wouldn’t notice…Yeah I don't think they make a difference really, at least not one most of us will notice.
I use extended chokes in guns if they happen to come with them, or if they're for a gun that'll need fast and easy choke identification and changes by hand. For example a S1 semi auto with a mag tube that extend beyond the muzzle is a bugger to work a choke key around.
