Let’s see your Cowboy guns

I snapped these pics at a previous Kempton Park arms fair. A limited number of engraved pistols were commissioned by Protek Supplies and I must admit they were stunning. Pics were taken indoors, so don't really do them justice.

they are mostly toys,

Not a good word to use for Co2 replica owners here in the UK 😉 😊
:D No, I expect not.
But I'll stick to my guns (Dad joke), it can look 101% authentic, but if it doesn't hit what I'm aiming at it's a toy no matter what.
And before the flame wars are ignited, I have plenty of toys too, one way or another. Nothing wrong with toys per se.
The loading tube can easily be swapped out for a full length one, it just unscrews .... i changed mine quite a bit if you look at the picture of the 3 winchester i put on this post my walther winchester is the bottom one in the pic.

Yes, I think I'd like to swap it and also get a Duke loading lever, I just cant find them for sale anywhere.
I like how you managed to make the butt cap less prominent by emphasising it

The butt cap is made of OAK and it was a right pain in the arse to make , dried oak is a VERY hard wood .... I should have used Beech

That is impressive!
I know a bit about oak, my dad was a coffin and furniture manufacturer and I learned a lot of stuff in the prototype shop and helped out with special orders

I think I'd do it in beech and put in a brass tack pattern to hide the line.

I've found the tube for sale online, but not the Duke lever.
Has anyone found a source?

I think maybe the engraver must of had a few sherbets when he did this one... 🤪

True though . Big boys toys born out of decades of overly restrictive legislation.
I like em but deep down I know it’s because it’s all we are allowed to play with. Well that and pellet guns .
Oh to be truly free, must be wonderful 🇺🇸

I grew up with a guy (god rest his soul). Who was a bit older than me. He had a glass display case of replica western hand guns. Could talk for ages about each one, technically, which people were supposed to have used them. Etc. He was eccentric used to dress up in full cowboy gear now and again, was even interviewed by the local paper once. One night he went into the local village pub in full kit, two guns blazing, walked up to the bar and ordered a pint. Two old ladies that ran the pub didn’t bat an eyelid😂😂😂. Couldn’t do that today! ARU. would be round. He used to flit to other hobbies, took up riding a racing pushbike, got seen all over the north west on it (probably in his 40s then). He went in the pub one night, someone asked “Where have you been today Andy ?” “Penrith” he replies. “Bloody hell how did you get over Shap fell ?” He took a puff of his Clint Eastwood style cigar, took it out off his mouth and said “I f..ckin pedalled yah turd!” Place fell about laughing.
🤣🤣🤣😂😂👍👍

Actually, not quite correct :). Muzzle loading revolvers are permitted in the UK provided one has an FAC slot/belongs to a target shooting club that uses them. That means that each chamber has a ball and powder loaded into it, rather than a round. For those that like the historical kind of stuff it can be very entertaining.

Here's a few of my cowboy replica's. Top two are dry firer models and the bottom ME Ranger is a .38 blank firer. Home made cases by the way. I'm not quite ready to start making these cases again, the two I made were made in my loft. Have started to save the wood and a mate has offered to let me use his large shed.

We're one up on you then, in Sweden muzzle loaders made prior to 1890 are, unlike air guns, not considered a firearm.
Free to own and use to anyone over 18. Black powder itself though is regulated

It is a fun, but smelly hobby

Here's my Winchester- a- Likes. I like me Winchesters. ;)
Hi Billy, being a Winchester fan you might be able to help me. I've been looking out for an antique/vintage lever rifle for my collection but nothing suitable so far.
Seeing this post has got me thinking about getting a replica and wondered if you could advise on a make / model that looks & feels the part. I gather some makes have plastic stocks and some are better made than others. I've never seen or had a hold of one so dont know just how realistic they are. I'm just about to put a wanted ad up for old guns so I'll ad the Winchester replica as well.
Thanks Ian.

I own a Winchester 1866, replica of course, bought secondhand . All the ones I've seen had wood stocks and look very much like the real thing. A search comes up with these as an example, all for sale with wood stocks.

i own 3 winchester air rifles .... they are all very good but it depends on what you are looking for
for realism the Umuarex Shell Eject model is probly the best, although the stock is plastic it is very authentic looking and wood kits are available, they are also very accurate and the spent shell ejecting from the breech is addictive (shells also fit the Umarex Colt SAA) .

if you ar looking for power and accuracy but the authenticity of the overall look is not essentual then the Umarex walther winchester is deffinately the one to choose , with its 8 shot pellet rotary magazine there are no shell casings to pick up but the stock is real wood.

The A&K version is Airsoft, not as powerful or as accurate as the other 2 but no less fun. it has a very authentic look to it and the stock is real wood
PIC 1....... My 3 Winnies ( top, shell eject....middle walther bottm a&k )
PIC 2....... Umarex Shell eject model
PIC 3........ Umarex Walther Winchester
PIC 4......... A&K Winchester

Thanks for that guys, I'm more interested in authentic looks and action rather than power and accuracy. I didnt even know they did them as air rifles, I just thought there were either blank firers for re enactors, or maybe co2 ones.

The 2 umarex are Co2 .... The A&K is Greengas
