L1A1 anyone

I used to have an Airfix one when I was a kid. I'm looking forward to getting and firing one, even if it is just to relive my childhood.

Pellpax and Crawley surplus have them listed but not in stock.

I contacted the importer The Shooting Party to ask when they could be expected in store, they said they were on the water and are due in store early October
I had an Airfix one too and loved it.

Chimera have them in stock and can custom build one with wood furniture too.

Enough of these toy replicas for a moment, returning to the real thing Hunting gif

Here I was nearly 60 years ago, 18 years old, Aden, sentry duty with real bullets and everything! All together now

Brave thing for an 18 year old lad to volunteer for.

Not many would do so to serve in a potential war zone today, so thanks you for your service sir.

Thank you. Truth is, when you are born and brought up in Clacton on Sea during the teddy boys and mods and rockers era, signing up for 22 years in the Army seemed attractive. I was in Aden during the reign of Col “mad” Mitchell (scroll down the link to Uprising in Aden City).

I said goodbye to my very own BSA-made SLR shortly after the Hungerford massacre. Seemed very odd to have to shoot for the next couple of years APWT [we did it with everything the BA had] knowing that if I'd been a civilian I would have been carted off to jail.

There are a couple of the Brazilian straight-pull versions in our club, as well as a .22cal semi-auto.

Somehow, when shooting the straight-pull SLR, that iconic PLAAAAAANG sound just isn't there, and it's really nowhere near as much fun as you'd think.

I dithered for a while about getting one, and then said **** it - I'll shoot my buddy's over in Oregon and get my fill of PLAAANG!

I’ll have to keep an eye out for that.

I’ll look forward to the reviews and videos, I do love the replica air rifles and guns and if I had a suitable space and a few quid spare I’d have a set up to rival Walmart.

How long before the SA80?

The L1A1 review is scheduled for the November issue of Airgun World, which should be available in mid October. Hot on the heels of the Huntsman Arms branded example I'm reviewing will be the Shooting Party's version, which I believe will have different markings but otherwise will be the same gun. The SP will also be marketing a wooden stocked L1A1 in 2025.

Cadet version - what about the in-service version?
That's the only GBB SA80 - there is an Ares AEG model:

I'm not an expert on the SA80 but I know you can get rails etc. to modify the WE version.
