Just a quick question does anybody know whare I can get a new blade put in a old army knife in the derby area as the knife I bought from a second hand shop the blade has been ground away to almost nothing
You have to go through their service centre now .If it is a SAK I believe Whitby are the UK distributors for repairs. Pictures of the knife would help.

The problem is the blade sits high as so much been taken off it catches in the pocket lineingWith the date and markings the knife could be worth more to a collector than a brand new replacement.
If keeping for own use, re profiling the blade to restore a straight cutting edge will be simpler than changing to new and still keeps knife original.
My own experience, somewhat confirmed by amount of lost metal, is steel in these blades was specified for easy sharpening and will not be so high on the rockwell hardness scale as we have come to expect in today's quality products.
Keeping blade cool to retain original temper, nevertheless important.
You may be able to grind the edge down on the ricasso ( black arrow below) . It should let you close it more but maybe not full under the scales. I did it with this oneI found out walking . It did not close enough to get the tip under the scale. I have done it on a few knives that have been broken on the tip or worn down with use and sharpening .The problem is the blade sits high as so much been taken off it catches in the pocket lineing
Might have to try thst approach did you use a file on it or dremmelYou may be able to grind the edge down on the ricasso ( black arrow below) .
