Knife pivot lubrication - whats your suggestions?

I have recently been using KPL to lube the pivots on my knives following advice, previously I was using Superlube which was really good. I know there is a lot of support for KPL but I feel it is actually a step back from what I had been using as it seems to stop the movement rather than make it smoother.

I have got some Nano Oil 5W coming which I am hoping will give be better but want to ask the community for any advice or suggestions on what to use

Unless you spend an inordinate amount of time opening and closing your knives, like hours at a time, I can't imagine it makes a blind bit of difference what you use. Any recognised lubricant will be as good as any other.

Ballistol is my go to oil for all my rifles & shotguns, but it is a shade to heavy for my knives, so i use Wahl clipper oil on those, a super thin effective mineral oil that works a treat, and is cheap as chips.
One bottle will last you forever, so you may need to purchase more knives

I have used Bumslide on my EKA Swede 10. It can be a pain if you get it where you don't need it though

Ballistol, KPL and The Clipper oil have all worked for me. I also had some old 3M Machine old, that worked too.

Everything gets Balistol, 500ml goes a long way when decanted into 30ml dripper bottles.
Use it on my Wahl clippers too, perhaps a fraction slower but they run that little bit smoother

I tend to use a pure mineral oil, sometimes use the folders on cutting an apple or whatever, keeps it food safe. Can’t imagine opening and closing a folder so many times that it would require and special lube tbf.

I do the same thing, a huge bottle of mineral oil costs little and last forever. I use my folder for cutting food all the time so try and keep petroleum based items away from it.

Another vote for clipper oil .I've been using this for a few years and it lasts for ages

Aye, as long as you keep it clean its not a worry. Cant remember the last time i actually lubed any of my knives other thaan a wipe down after sharpening.
