Ive got the itch to get another gun and I am considering either the Katran Pro or ghost. Any thoughts on the way to go. I’m a lefty and would get a .177. All opinions welcome (no punch ups :ROFLMAO: )

Hi iduxbury,

I have a Katran ( not sure what the pro is ) and it is a nice very accurate rifle
A buddy I shoot with had a BRK ghost for about a month and sold it, I will ask him why as I can not remember the reason.

I see you are in Chelmsford, (not far from Petes airgun farm) where I shoot
If you are a member or want to join you are more than welcome to come to Petes and have a go of mine buddy.

Hi MikeyJ

Yes, I am a member of Pete’s, but shoot at Maldon and District mainly. Works out alot cheaper if you shoot once or twice a week.

Thanks for the offer of having a go of yours though.

Can't speak for the Ghost but ive had a Katran NC Pro for a month now and its a solid enough platform and does what Airmaks guns do and thats shoot pellet on pellet if you do your thing right.
Its a bit different from shooting my krait which like the Ghost is a bullpup so i find a different technique is required to shoot it.

The best way to find out is to try to shoulder both guns if possible.

My Katran is one of the AGF specials just wet your appetite 😉

Just to say the Katran is accurate

Here are some of my best 5x shot groups at 50 yards at Pete's using JSB Exact 8.44 4.53
I can not manage that all the time

Nice, I think I will take a trip to the Airgun Center on Saturday, as they currently have both in stock (y)

See if you can fire them both, the ghost is amazing engineering wise but makes a horrible farting hammer bounce noise. Unfortunately I couldn't live with the noise.

At one point I had a ghost and a Katran. The ghost has been faultless but unfortunately the Katran had an issue with the block and barrel alignment. Meant that when the shroud was screwed on it put pressure on the barrel as the two weren’t concentric. Led to some significant accuracy problems and I ended up getting a refund. Don’t know if they have designed this out now, but if they have, I might be tempted by a pro at some point.

Still got the ghost, with a couple of optional modifications (the Hal shroud is cracking) and it stacks barracuda 8’s into a single hole at 25m. It isn’t going anywhere.

Haven't shot or handled a katran but the Ghost has been a revelation for me. I generally dislike "impact" style guns as they don't tend to fit my giant frame and they can sometimes feel like a box of knives in the hand. For some inexplicable reason the Ghost has bucked this trend and is currently my go to pcp in sub 12. I'm also considering one in .22 at fac power. The block and all thr bits fit together fantastically and so far it has been very accurate and reliable. My only real gripe is thr mag holding 13 in .177, a very odd number to keep track of.... No doubt a katran will be equally as accurate so see if you can try them both. Meanwhile my Ghost is staying put.....

I have a Katran and a ghost with the Katran biggest problem I’ve had is two many Allen screws on it and they keep coming loose ! And trigger is too light 💡 the ghost is heavy it’s good off the bench but too heavy for all day hunting and the trigger too heavy way too heavy . So I bought a Agt VIXEN SHORT and all is well in the world . Still have the ghost and the Katran but they don’t get out much I seem to grab the vixen for some reason.

Katrans are junk I don't even know why I put it as my profile picture I had no end of issues they literally fall apart/leak an I never even found it as accurate my hw100 let alone a rti prophet or priest and unfortunately cant comment on the ghost if you want bullpup tho look at the rti
