Just sold my Land Rover, now what ?

So, the plot thickens...

While perusing Copart's website and narrowing my searches to Cat N, I found a 2007 Nissan X Trail 2.0dCi Sport Expedition Extreme Auto

Pictures looked good, MOT history wasn't terrifying, mileage is 116k, so I put a cheeky bid on it and forgot all about it, and unexpectedly won it for 500 quid  :)

Auction fees and delivery were on top, however, ostensibly the car's purchase price is 500 quid.

There are couple of small dents, and the passenger door mirror and rear bumper corner are scraped. Drives nicely, interior is clean, turbo sounds like it has a leak so I am guessing there is a perished pipe, and there are a couple of fault codes to deal with.

I like it so much I am already making plans to sell my Skoda Kodiaq.
I had one of these some time back and in many ways loved it. Things to watch out for are knackered Turbos, and fuel, pressure sensors.

A Subaru Forester will be all you need! I'm on my third and apart from consumables and services have never a thing.
These are a quality car with a good rep fine for most farm tracks! Depends on how bad the tracks are. However Its amazing how easy it is to get stuck on soft flat fields without diff lock and low range! Nearly bought an old style defender tdi until i drove one!

I have a new Dacia duster ! Cracking car for the money .Does what it says on the tin.Hested seat ,cameras etc but for so much less .Had 3,love em !

Into D and knock the lever to the right - lowest ratio ever using the chain driven gearbox using expanding and contracting pulleys. General grabber tyres too.

I had two Freelanders, an SE & then an HSE, not so great on fuel & the road tax getting a bit expensive as well. A pensioner now so I have to factor costs into what I have. I sold my HSE & purchased a Nissan Qashqai Tekna 1.5 diesel which is a Euro 6 car. Really nice & around 55 to 60 to the gallon so good for me. My other hobby of metal detecting sometimes takes me off road although light off road it’s never got stuck yet.

Ahh some good future tips in here for when my vintage Cayenne (it'll turn 20 in 2027) finally expires or gets legislated off the road. It's been by far my favourite car and the one I've owned longest by some margin. So I'll always recommend em!

I've also owned four S3 Landies over the years - all SWB - probably my favourite motors after Porsche (what a contrast!). The most fun of the Landies was a lovely fully restored air-portable military lightweight (on a Q plate because it was ex-MOD).

Q plate Lightweight S3 was my first vehicle !!!👍👍👍 Happy memories!

Update: the above Nissan Navara unfortunately suffered catastrophic failure, and weeks of wrangling later I finally got a full refund from the selling garage after I rejected the vehicle. Both turbos were shot - it looked like something had caused the top smaller turbo to collapse, and whatever it burped out seized the large second turbo.

This cost us over 5 weeks of holiday so, while the faff and legal stuff was ongoing, I bought a Mitsubishi L200 and my daughter and I loaded that up and headed off. We crossed France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Sweden, and spent a month or so in Norway. It wasn't the 3+ months break we had planned for, but we still enjoyed the trip and saw some amazing things.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade...

We are now looking at Defender 110's with a view of removing the back seats and doing a camper conversion inside, plus the roof tent outside, with diesel heater etc

Someone needs to talk me out of the intrusive thoughts in my head

This isn’t cheap, but seems lovely…

You cant go wrong with a series 5 l200. I had a b40 short bed a few years ago, and now i have a series 5 as a work motor. Decent set of tyres and it will go anywhere.

I would love a Trackhawk
Wow wow wow thats grip and power, there is a 2005 Nissan auto patrol up for sale with a couple of hundred miles on the clock yep 200 delivery miles or give it run miles it is in a private collection and its up for 30k its absolutely mint as if it has just been made, if I could get it by SWMBO it would be sitting on my drive now
I purchased an ex demo model and it traded in all them years later with 197k miles and all for a set of tyres now and then and one cam change and a alternator thingy, never let me down utterly bomb proof and reliable, best car I ever owned that includes defender and landcruiser
