James Bond - which is your favourite actor as 007?

Moore played it for laughs and the speedboat scenes in Live and let Die with Sheriff J D Pepper were classic.
Craig was quite good in Layer Cake, but he doesn't have the charisma to be a leading man IMHO.
The first ‘grown up’ film I ever saw at the cinema. I must have been about 5 at the time and my parents warned me it was a ‘serious’ film and I might not like it, or I might even find it scary. The voodoo snake stuff went right over my head but I do particularly remember Jane Seymour (ooo hello I thought), and the speedboat chase was hilarious to me, especially the over land speedboats.

“A secret agent ? On whose side ?!!!”

“What are you boy ? Some kinda doomsday machine ?”

Ah, now that is an entirely different (and more contentious ?) topic - hottest Bond girl.

For me it has to be a errrrr ‘toss up’ (ahem) between Jane Seymour in Live and Let Die and Barbara Carrera in Don’t Ever Not Say Never Ever Again Not Never, Ever. Yes, I know Carrera was a villain rather than a Bond girl but that just made her all the hotter, especially in her nurses outfit.

Mmmmm, time for a quiet lie down in a darkened room I think 😆

There is a separate thread running about Bond actresses.
Part of what prompted me to start this thread.......

JD was a class act and nobody could have played him better than Clifton James.
Some of the one liners in the scene you mention are cinematic gold,

"I got me a regular Ben Hur down here".

"You got a set of wheels that just won't quit boy".

"Secret agent, on who's side?" etc, etc.

If they do bring back "Bond" Who would be the best to fit the roll??? Leonardo DiCaprio-Brad pit Johnny Depp Thoughts needed ??

How about David Tenant

Tennant is about as WOKE and luvvie as it gets unfortunately - Larry Grayson would be a better choice 😉

Given Bond's origins in novels from 1950s Post WW2 Britain then somebody able to mix and fit in anywhere meant he had to be a white, public school educated man
His rank, tastes in cars and drinks in the books suggest somebody old enough to have served in WW2.

70 ish years later, would that still be the case?

Bond needs to be young and fit enough to fight to the death, probably with martial arts skills nowadays - so born since 1990 or thereabouts at least?
Any nominations?

Eggsy from The Kingsman series?

brosnon and moore. to me craig was a bit of a sissy after royale. Though the thought of the new bond maybe being a woman ... im out. I only just forgave them for having billie eilish make the theme for good day to die.

Difficult to say. Easier to rate each film as oppose to saying which actor is my favourite.

I only really enjoyed Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan in their debut films: Casino Royale and Golden Eye respectively, which were both great, but all of their other Bond films seemed to get worse with each subsequent one.

For consistent quality I’d say Sean Connery.
I liked Daltons cold portrayal - he was more like an assassin, should’ve got more films from him.
Moore was good too but entirely different humour based Bond.
With that Ive noticed that Bond appears to alternate in tone; One actor it’ll be slightly campy tongue in cheek humour, the next will be a darker more serious take on the character.
Its humour this time round and it’s been 20 years since we had new actor play the part.

Moore was too cheesy, so Sean for me. Lasenby only did one so not much to go on, and I haven't watched the newer ones.
ETA: just been reminded, I have seen one with Daniel Craig, not bad film but a bit too serious for me.

Now if it was James Bond actor and not 007 - Woody Allen.
Excellent comedic performance in Casino Royale, but then so was Niven's.

Are late entries accepted?

Based on the womanising scenes, I'd say Sean Connery used to roger more.

OHMSS and Lazenby, my votes for best film and actor.

I'm not just saying that through any loyalty to country. George was from bloody NSW.

I was a fan of Steed and Mrs Peel before seeing OHMSS as well.
'Steed' as Bond? The body count wouldn't have been as high I am sure.

Edit: at least Steed got to be Bond's driver....

Born 1960.
