Improving at NSRA Benchrest

I'm having some difficulty imagining what you mean by this. Do you not have a whole flat bench top that can support both your front rest and afford you space to get a hand underneath the rear of the stock?

Our benches are fairly high, so when the front of the gun is on its rest, the back is still quite low, so even when a gloved hand is put under my Red Wolf (which has a big dip in the stock) the rifle is still aiming high of the targets, so I need to raise the rear more, and the easiest way to do that is shoot off a thin cushion, although I could use a rear rest and put my hand on that (y)

Look at the photos you will see a glove with a pad under the palm, it also has a big X alongside it????
It would have been much easier to reply if you had included the photo that you mean. I GUESS you are talking about this image:

Sadly, the rule discussion around this image does not mention what is wrong in this image at all:
Rule 8.7 allows the use of a glove but it must be made of flexible material and must not extend
more than 50 mm (2 in) above the wrist measured from the centre of the wrist knuckle or joint.
Most people use a standard ISSF shooting glove but other gloves may be used such as an
ordinary leather glove
I thought that it might be mentioned in rule 8.7, but alas that says even less:
8.7 SHOOTING GLOVES
The glove must be made of flexible material and must not extend more than 50 mm (2 in) above the wrist measured from the centre of the wrist knuckle
I actually can't find any fule in the
My position is that you are allowed to have a pad under your hand, so long as it is part of a covering of the bench allowed for by rule 8.16.4.2:
8.16.4.2 The shooter may cover all or part of the bench with a material to give elbow comfort. The material must not have a thickness of more than 20 mm uncompressed.
Because if you cover the entire bench, you will have a pad under your gloved hand. If you wanted a pad under your hand, as long as it is also under one of your elbows "to give elbow comfort", I'd rule it completely legal - not that, after all this, I think I'd want anything soft under my hand.

I guess I'm having trouble understanding how the height of the bench is related to the angle of the rifle.

I'm imagining something like this:

So no matter the height of the surface, the rifle should stay at the same level - which I guess doesn't match what your setup actually is.

What am I misunderstanding 🤔 😅

Your front rest is too low - raise it and it becomes a pivot point requiring the rear to be raised to keep the rifle pointing slightly downwards as our targets are lower than the bench. Our seats are also a bit low, so it just emphasises the fact above ;)

Your first comment reads quote. Sadly the rule discussion around the image does not mention what is wrong in the image at all.
Well taken in isolation, which is the reason I did not copy the image, the image it is a little on the vague side, but when looked at in context with the complete document, it makes it very clear that No pouch/pad/bag or cushion etc is not permitted under the palm of your hand, any chalanges to this should realy be made through the NSRA.
As we know, many clubs and shooters do not fully apply all of the rules, which is fine as long as they are not competing under the rules. Anyone has the right to shoot however they choose.
I do think that any challenges, be they technical or otherwise, to the rules should be made to the NSRA and not on this forum.
One last thing, please do not SHOUT at me, let's keep it polite, shall we 👍
