If you had just ONE Magnification on your scope, what would it be?

Cant make this is a Poll tbh cos it would have the longest list of options in Forum history!

So....just shout it out (and if you wanna say why, do)

I have been a 6x mag man for a very very long time (35 years) and it's genetically in my DNA now.

Recent eye surgery, (and cos I am an old grumpy *******), I have to say I think 10x is very useful for me but..... if I had scopes with fixed mag only....

6x it is.

I use fixed mag scopes for hunting and have done for quite some time.

Larger critters you can get lost in the fur with 8x if you're too close.

6x is a nice compromise but you still need quite a large scope to have a good enough exit pupil size for full light transmission.

4x is my favourite and they're cheap, especially if you can find a good older European or Japanese scope with quality glass and they're small and light and the smaller objective lens makes parallax way less of an issue.

People use way too much magnification 1x per 100 yards is all you need.

gives me the best aim points on a half mil dot ret

In majority
Sub 12 and fac air 3 and then 4.
This covers me from v close range ratting at 5 yards out to 60 / 70 yards fac air.
.22lr 4
Hmr 6

Oooh you're fancy with your mildots 🤣

I've come to the conclusion if it's past the range where I'm resting the cross hair on top of the target to hold over, I'm running out of gun and I need something bigger.
Check this out

Zero on all my setups is between 30 and 33 yards depending on scope height. All of them give the following

Between cross hairs and 1st half mil dot - 40 yards
first half mil dot - 45 yards
Between first half mil dot and first full mil dot - 50 yards
First full mil dot - 55 yards

Max height above POA mid curve 8mm. Not enough that I'd give them anything but crosshairs mid curve
Out to 35, its still crosshairs, with possibly a breath of holdover, depending where I'm zeroed

I'd rather shoot smarter, not harder
Coupled with a rangefinder, I can't remember the last bunny that didn't turn its toes up cleanly

I use a range finder and the best possible MPBR, then if it's beyond my top of the target hold over range (which is surprisingly far with 7.33gr JSB RS (50 yards!!).

I just stalk closer, and let's be fair I don't need to get closer at 50 yards I need to pull the HMR out which is the same to 150 yards.
