I'm new to the forums and would like some ideas for fun targets for me and our 3 boys (9, 8 and 6) to shoot in the garden.

We recently started shooting and I've been using cans, and other things from the recycling, but decided to up my game and bought a great little row of 6 knock-down targets that you then reset by shooting a 7th target.

I also got a little 14cm pellet catcher target - primarily to use with some paper zeroing targets to set up the rifle's scope. (I suspect most forum users would be entertained/horrified by how little I know about air rifles and scopes!)

We've been getting ChatGPT to design targets to print out and shoot - and that's good fun.

I was wondering what other fun and inexpensive targets people use.

Sugar lumps - penny a target! Bit of rain does the clean up for you:-)
Playing cards - face on until you get good then side on. Many many targets for a couple of quid for two packs in some shops or fleabay etc

+1 for the chalk men, also available on amazon. Also theres some targets that create smoke and/or loud bangs, stick them on fruit or something to make them bigger for example.

A few members on here manufactur targets too.

This thread has some good ideas.

I like Ice. Shatters nicely and no clean up!

Welcome. Lots of great threads on here with home made targets & ranges. Try these for starters:

@Ganton Gunner could there be a section added for “Home ranges, targets & backstops” ? The threads seem popular

Kids love targets which react when hit.

Tin cans are good but they wear out very quickly. Try using plastic bottles instead.

Milk bottles tops suspended on strings make good targets. They are small enough to make it a challenge but they bounce really well when hit.

Another bouncy target is old Co2 bottles with a spring inserted into them.

Airgun pellets on cocktail sticks are very addictive. They make a great "ZINGGGG" when hit.

Playing cards are an excellent challenge. Shoot them in half.

Plaster (chalk) Gummy Bears are fabulous fun and look great when they blow up when viewed through a scope.

With all plinking targets, make sure of your backstops.
