So what, you might say, but this was the first time since the 60’s, they have certainly changed. Had a Hospital appointment and was not allowed to drive with what they were doing to me, and for once I could not get a lift. Having held three previous Bus passes and not used them, I found it a relatively enjoyable experience, mind you there were only three people on the bus.
Anybody else not used a bus 🚌 for a long time

I've not used one for a while, but one thing I do remember, is being less stressed than driving as there is very little you can do, other than watch the scenery go past, often seeing things you'd miss on other transport.
Which reminds me, when I did my apprenticeship, being sat on the train going to Colchester technical college, I used to spot rabbits in the fields beside the track, and wish I could get off, leave the work scene behind and stalk a few.
Same with the Marconi school of engineering delineation, used to watch the rabbits there, as I was meant to be drawing shapes.

I had to ask my wife that. One in Guernsey and one in Exmouth in the 46 years we’ve been married. When we moved to this village there was one an hour and all you had to do was stand at the end of your driveway and he’d stop, likewise returning he’d drop you off at your house. No busses at all now.

Not many buses here either. They are very envious of the British public transport system which has 10x more people journeys than France. I did however commute for five years by bus and train only (no car) with a pass for the Birmingham routes. Quite enjoyable but the timekeeping was terrible. I had a map which gave me all the bus routes and frequency. So bicycle to the station in zone 5, train to zone 2 and two or three buses to work, depending on which ones I took. Sometimes walking was quicker. Took about 1 1/2 hrs to get to work, but often friends would drop me off at a train station for the return. Haven't been on a bus now for 20 years, but did enjoy public transport.

I remember the old busses from my schooldays. The shaking and vibrating used to give this young boy an embarrassing erection. Many times I missed my stop, too embarrassed to get up and walk to the exit. No problems nowadays though.

We only use buses (with our bus passes) while on holiday with our campervan. It reduces traffic congestion & saves me driving & finding & paying for parking spaces. We quite often visit the Lake District & the buses are great there, some services are run with open top double deckers, & the mountain goat mini buses venture further afield than the bigger service buses.

We started using buses again when we retired and got our bus passes, after around 20 years since we last used one it's been a fairly OK experience. As long as you stay away from school times etc were finding them not really busy.
It's great when we're away in the campervan, no need to drive into small towns and pay for parking anymore.

We used a bus in Cumbria when we went there in the motorhome, I found it very relaxing and efficient, surprisingly cheap too. Their bus services are far more frequent than we have locally, maybe that's why I can't rely on them at home.

I live on an A Road about 2 miles out of town and they drive past nearly empty all the time. Someone told me its £3 to ride into Town.
Strikes me if they reduced the Fare to £1 it would cost the same in fuel and the Bus would probably be full ?!
Same with trains I see going past the bottom of my road..always 2 carriages long and near enough empty!

We sometimes go into town and use the park and ride from Chester Zoo, I enjoy the short ride, so much easier.
