It is or was my spare phone on Gifgaf and is linked to my main IPhone. I haven't used it for quite a while and tried to start it up - nothing. Put it on charge and it showed a red line for dead battery. Anyway I took it down to local phone place and they said it needed a new battery, £30, but I think that is all the phone is worth tbh.
So I'm thinking I might have a go at changing the battery, it looks straightforward on youtoob.
Has anyone on here changed an Iphone battery? Where is the best source of them and any tips please.

Spare batteries are still available from the likes if Amaz@n and a net search will show more. I’ve not done mine but one battery company takes you step by step through the process. Iphone 6s is classed as vintage by Apple now, with no updates and worth less than £30. The batteries cost from £20 upwards by a few more quid.
The phones seem easy to replace the battery, but you may be better of with a new one. The 6s is pretty much obsolete now, being ten years old.

Hi yes the batteries are fairly easy to replace but they can invalidate the warranty(should you have a newish phone)….. saying that you probably wouldn’t receive updates now which would make your iPhone 6 unusable if not now, eventually

Try charging it by leaving it on for an hour, disconnect it, then try again, and repeat a few more times, sometimes they just spring back into action and take the charge after a few false starts ;)

So I've finally got round to changing the battery with one off amazon. It wasn't too hard, thanks to yootoob but everything is so tiny I had to use lots of light and my strongest specs.
Now I want to reset to factory settings but the phone is resisting my efforts. I have got the Apple app on my laptop but I get halfway through the process and it says 'unable to restore/reset' then a number and code.
It was a good phone in great condition and I would like to use it as a 'holiday' phone.
My laptop is a bit ancient, using windows 10, and I do really need to replace it and I wonder if that is the problem.
I don't really want to spend any more money on this phone, I would rather pop a couple of rounds through it on the range and get another one.
Help.

I’ve done this on IPhone 6
You can get battery & fitting kit / screwdriver from EBay for less than £20
The only problem I had was getting old battery out
There are some very sticky strips holding it in
Which new one should have supplied
Be sure to watch YouTube video 👍

Thanks but I've already changed the battery. Problem I've got is trying to reset the phone to factory settings

To be honest, for £30 why bother? let the company do it and take al the risk for £30 - you can pick up the battery for £20 and then spend a couple of hours yourself.....

of course, if you like doing stuff like that then great.....but for me, I'd just give it to the shop and pay the money.

Hi have you tried a hard reset as well that might help wake it up I’m pretty it should help mate 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Please be aware that if its operating on 3G, this will be closed down by the end of the year. Some have already started. Some can be switched to 4G, also Iphone stopped updating the 6 in sept 2022.

It was fine when it got left in a cupboard about 6 months ago. I have been told it may be the home/fingerprint button so I have ordered a new one off eblag £1.89. I'm not going to spend another p on it. If that doesn't work it will be target practice and I'll post the pics 😁

Filming redundant phones when a .22 or .25 meets it is very satisfying when played back, especially in slo mo… at 10m the pellets will pass straight through, causing untold damage as they do..
