Owner of a HY3200SEi generator with load / speed controller. Developed a fault, symptoms are irregular idling speed, stopping without any electrical load connected, some odd running periods with a smoky exhaust? UK aftersales set up is near non-existent, so owner service being considered, anyone else experienced this kind of fault with a similar generator, advise most welcome.

Sounds to me like a carburettor fault. It's running rich and is it something simple like the choke lever come loose?

Thanks for responses: Q/A
From the info dragged out of the UK support:
From my fault description they suggest it is to do with the Inverter / Stepping Motor.
Basic information supplied. The Inverter unit controls the engine speed by way of an electrical drive to the carburettor. Normal carb speed control is a flap airway valve, assume the inverter control signal is something of a positional electrical actuator drive.
The petrol used has been recently purchased (April 26) so should be OK,
As mentioned the Hyundai UK support for this product is a national centre only in Pembroke Dock.

Due to the Hyundai Power Equipment having only one UK aftersales support centre I have asked if they could support an owner corrective by way of service information, economic with disclosure comes to mind, well I was expecting them to be protecting their investment however if you are selling products in a country which inevitably needs aftersales support then you should set up region support agents. My options are: delivery the faulty generator to Pembroke Dock and stay for the time it requires them to diagnose & correct / Arrange delivery and collection, expense & risk / Contact the Manufacturer direct to see if they can supply service information and parts. More to follow.

Further attempts to resolve this issue. Hyundai South Korean HQ do not seem to have a division for their Power Equipment, they are a global corporation with many facilities in the Asian region, expect it is one of these which is involved in the Hyundai Power label. The UK support is as mentioned in Pembroke Dock, they will respond to owner issues albeit limited to their idea of what to offer. Presently awaiting a request for the internal electrical schematics to allow accurate diagnostics. More to follow

i have fixed 3 of these thing with different faults 1 wont start 2 missfire 3 runs for 10 mins then cuts out all 3 were the same fauld a little square gold box that stops it starting if its low on oil by making ignition feed go to earth but you can just disconect it once you checked the oil see if it fixs the problem if it does then jst replace it.

Hyundai SE3200SEi generators. The story goes on, latest efforts to resolve the fore mentioned problems has gone so far:
The Hyundai Power Equipment, part of the South Korean Corporation is a different entity to the Vehicle Sector.
No reference of support from their international website presence.
UK presence is handled by an Importer / distributor in Pembroke Dock.
As far as I can find out there is no other means of support in the UK.
If you have an after sales problem with one of these generators then you have to deal with the above. (anti competition laws?)
Requests by me for workshop documentation due to the UK support set up has been denied.
Requests by me for a costing of shipment & repair against its market value have also been denied.
The options whether to scrap this generator after 7 hours of use from new, or gamble with a repair bill exceeding its market value hangs in the balance.
Please make your own minds up about this, would be interest to hear from anyone who is in the same position?

Sounds to me like one needs to factor in a house move to West Wales if you plan to buy one of these generators.

Further developments in this story. The aftersales UK support have asked for the generator to be returned to their workshop for investigation, all costs to be meet by myself. In preparation for shipment, draining the fuel tank, lines, valve & filter a fault was discovered
in the valve, blocked with small particles, valve by-passed the generator was found to run correctly. The source of the contamination I believe is down to corrosion around the fuel filler cap. Requested a replacement fuel valve, more to follow.

Hopefully the last part of this experience. After multiple attempts at getting Hyundai Power Equipment to understand all I needed was a replacement fuel cock (willing to pay for) they sent me a replacement (foc)**************. There was however some niggles, the replacement fuel cock ON / OFF orientation is the reverse of the markings on the facia and the rotation shaft is longer than the original, facia knob extended out more than it should. However I should be grateful for being able to get the generator to run as normal. I am not about to slag-off the make and its UK distribution, I'll just leave the facts open to your own minds.
