YES, need to make sure it is thoroughly degreased before attempting the blueing. I also use a heat gun to dry off after rinsing with water then apply next coat whilst still warm (not hot). Works for me.How did you find the bluing process, is it straight forward?

Is that due to the longer barrel of the older rifles or is the 25mm piston more efficient than the later 26mm?13.4 fpe doesn't surprise me with an older HW77, especially having added top hat and Brit Seal.
Had one old 77 kicking at the limit with the original piston seal and the spring finished like a corkscrew.
Normally expect to cut a coil when using a top hat.
It was a shorter K barrel with 26 mm piston. In all forms the 77/97 seems to make sub 12 power very easily, especially with a Brit seal that will be sized correctly.Is that due to the longer barrel of the older rifles or is the 25mm piston more efficient than the later 26mm?
