Good morning, I have just taken delivery of a new old gun from a friend of mine. It is in need of some TLC which I think would be well worthwhile, but I know nothing about the gun other than it is an HW77, one careful (?) owner and as far as I know - never been touched. It shoots well and took a couple of tree rats last week and so I guess everything is surprisingly working well. The scope I think is of a similar vintage to the gun is not quite clean, but very clear. Unfortunately the stock (left handed) and the steel has not weathered too well, but after about 40 years that may be expected. I can't think that there are many original left hand HW77's of this vintage about.
If any one can help date the gun and advise what best to do with it I would appreciate it. i am relatively new to air guns although I did have them when I was younger.
I will put some pics up in a couple of attachments for you to scrutinise.

A few more pics. If you cannot make out the serial number it is 1013037 and it is a .22.

Input your serial number in the Weihrauch Database and it comes back as likely built in 1984.
While I figure many know about it, for those who may not, you can find it here:
What to do with yours? By all means restore it to it's former glory. Plenty of insanely talented gentlemen on here that would happily help I'm thinking.

It’s a Mk2 rifle with shallow loading port thumb release button for lever and likely 3 scope arrestor holes in the trigger block. The serial number says 1984 in the database but the list below conflicts with that. Possibly had a mk2 front lever housing fitted as the Mk1s were alloy and can crack. How many holes in the trigger block will be crucial evidence of Mk. 🔍

Edit: just seen the third pic with only two arrestor holes, I’d say a mk1 with a mk2 lever catch and foresight.

Early HW77s are very desirable - great guns!

Left handed stock might be a bit "niche" or possibly ultra desirable.

Well worth refinishing the whole gun if you are bothered about cosmetics - or keep it original

Paul Chell for the blacking

Nath 92 for the stock.

Well established Forum members who did great jobs on my old HW77.
Very reasonable prices, too.
Check with them for availability and turn around time
