With my vintage rifle love kicking in more and more, the S10 was always on the radar but either the wrong calibre (for me), condition and price always meant I never seemed to land on a good example, that changed earlier this week when I spotted this mk2, 177 long barrelled variant in absolutely fabulous condition, to top things off it came with a mint condition Nikko Stirling Silver Crown 😍, and some pellets I've not seen for some time.

The rifle has had next to no use from the previous owner so today I'll be running it through the chrono and seeing how it groups with various pellets?

The only niggle so far is that I spotted tat the cocking handle has a very slight bend in it, so that will need addressing, it cocks and fires with no issue but it's not as slick feeling as my Rapids, I'm unsure if this is just how the S10s are?

The icing on the cake would have been if this was a full length bull barrel, is it costly to do this?

Any other things I should look out for I'd be interested in, I know the regs on these can be hit and miss but I know that Huma do one.

Its very early days for the S10 I'll find out later today how well it performs and if I do gel for this little beauty?

I fitted a Huma reg to my S10 .22, that I bought before Xmas.

Very easy fit and even easier to adjust for balancing fps once fitted.

Took about 7 days to arrive from Huma. I also bought a new 200cc BSA bottle with BSA valve fitted from Knibbs.

You've probably seen the stripdown YT videos by that American guy, sorry can't remember name for link.
 
I've been going through a similar kind of phase recently, I think it's a bit of nostalgia for me. I've picked up a nice fx2000 carbine and an older (2006) AA S410k and I would love a BSA S10 mk3 carbine in walnut (not a BBK) to add to the collection.

Yes I was watching him earlier in the week, "Northwest airgun", he's very good, wasy to follow and does a good tutorial on the Weihrauch Rekord trigger assembly 👍

Scope fits it nicely too. Nowt wrong with a bit of nostalgia of memories tied up in that.

Yes. Unlike the Rapid the bolt performs a number of functions in its travel. It must be pulled all the way back and down to the bottom of the slot on the side plate to make sure they are all carried out. Failure to do this can result in the trigger locking up as the S10's deadlock will come into play. The trigger came from an Olympic Gold medal winning El Gamo rifle of the 1980's but was modified by BSA to incorporate several safety features. When set up correctly the .177" long barrel S10 gives in excess of 200 shots per fill of the 200cc bottle thanks to the anti bounce device device fitted as standard. It won the first FT championships using Pax 9.5 grain lead pellets later marketed as Logun Penetrators and the first FAC FT championships in Northern Ireland at 30 ft/lbs in .22".
