Hi all. Are there any users of the Cheetah that have got to the most up to date firmware installed? Looking for real timer users input. What is the clarity like now with the onboard IR, what sort of distance are you getting with the IR and with a clear picture that doesn’t distort the pixels so it’s unusable.. I’ve had the Alpex 4k lrf and the screen picture was great, crystal clear and easy to see all the information on it. Is the Cheetah more or less the same? Reason for selling the Alpex was purely the weight. I tried the Zulus last night and the screen was in my opinion very small and oblong/square. It also seemed very sensitive to cant and was very hard to get it level. It was either how the fellow had it set up as I did ask if he had calibrated it..

So is the cheetah much, much better now with the new software and worth buying for sub 12ftlb rabbiting out to 50 yards?

Thanks.

The Zulus is generally regarded as better, I'm in the same position, not much choice at the 500g weight class.

I had a night out using a 5-20 last night. Don’t know if it’s how the lad had it set up but it was so sensitive to cant, I struggled to keep it level and that was rested. Also the screen is tiny, I could just be spoilt as I’ve been using the Alpex. The other thing and this could happen with any scope, he had to keep turning it off, as the stand by wasn’t working at times, it was hit and miss. On the cheetah the battery compartment is vertical but on the Zulus it’s horizontal. When changing a battery in the dark and trying to do it covertly, if you have the rifle tilted and unscrew the cap, as it’s sprung at the bottom if your wearing gloves, like he was guess where it ended up? Spent 5 minutes with white light on looking for the battery and the top. Gave up and came back in doors.
I do like the weight of the cheetah but I’ve not had a chance to look through one with a decent ir torch.
Would you take a punt with a cheetah?

I've scoured reviews and videos and it seems the zulus is a pretty clear winner, however personal preference is always relevant.
I like fixed 4x and 6x optical scopes where most want zooms.
Unless you can try one it's a gamble, I was drawn to thd cheetah initially but after reading lots I'm not sure.

Hi, ive had the cheetah 3 times and sold them on as i thought the amount of pixeling was dreadful on zooming. Nice easy controls and compact but just couldnt put up with poor picture quality. And i always had the latest firmware on them. Dont know if any better now, sold my last one about 4 mths ago.
Ive now got 2 dnt zulus scopes and on my rifles and wont be swapping them any time soon. Easy to use even with gloves for me and I wouldnt worry too much about the cant, dont think im ever dead level when firing my sub 12 rifle and i very rarely miss. Probably different with fac at further distance though. Not having any problems with the standby buttoms on mine, could be a dodgy button on his ? I have the Alpex 4k lrf as well and as you say, heavy but the quality of picture is brilliant and easy to use.
I would definately pick the zulus is over the cheetah. Good luck in you choice.

Yep like I mentioned it could just of been the way he had set up. Not sure he even understood when I asked if he had calibrated it, think he thought I ment his BC. You could have just swayed me there mate. That’s what I like about the forum real time user experience. Much appreciated.
