Some idiot shot a cat with an air rifle and now they are doing the usual ban airguns/ license them rant on the BBC.

I can see us needing a license to shoot sub12 like in Scotland soon.

Times Radio just had a journalist on who had been an anti, not even allowing her kids to watch films with guns in.

At a lunch with a friend it was agreed world is going to hell in hand cart and what could she do.

Female friend was a prepper and suggested she should learn to shoot.

Long story short, they went to a range and after a few minutes of fear and loathing of the .22lr pistol, she started hitting the target and began to feel a great deal of satisfaction.

Not only from hitting the target, but realising she could protect her family.

This is in France btw and I don't know what scares me more, an inexperienced shot thinking she's learnt enough to protect family or the zombie apocalypse she's preparing for.

Would probably be a crime in the UK to suggest you intend to "protect your family".

Not sure I can face reading the story on the BBC.

"I would like these guns to be banned or used only with a licence, [so in] cases of misuse the culprit [can] be found quickly," she said.

So they round up all the licensed owners and do forensics on their barrels to match the pellets ?

It may not even be some one who lives there like the guy in a car targeting house's with a catapult up here a few year's ago.

We still have idiots targetting pets and we have the AWC , The airgun crime has went down( it had been going down for years before it came in ) but we still have airgun crime despite the AWC so the AWC is not going to stop it completely .

It was probably some old boy with an equally old gun who's fed up with cats crapping his garden and ripping it to pieces, as well as killing all the wild birds in his garden.

If airguns were licensed and it was that scenario, he probably wouldn't even know about the licence if it was required.

Likewise, if it's a yob, he's not going to licence a gun either.

I agree.

Make it twenty five🤭
Your bad 😂🤣😂🤣😂

Jokin apart lots of my friends have cats . and quite a few on here . In some case there the only friend they have .

@Mark Palmer has a cat on his boat with him . some of the pics he sends me have me rolling around laughing .
some owners actually look after there mogs .

Any with a airgun has a responsibility to read the feckin rules and laws .
Saying that 🤔 some treat the forum rules just the same . either that or they carnt feckin read.

rar rar rar ........

I was told once when i mentioned that older gardeners are often guilty of shooting cats that I was talking crap but there is many reports of it happening .

One here for example.

An 80-year-old Bexley pensioner, Patrick Medford, was handed a suspended jail sentence and an indefinite pet ban for shooting a neighbour’s cat with an air rifle in June 2021. The cat, named Ethel, died from sepsis after being shot from a window due to fouling in the garden, and Medford was ordered to pay compensation and costs.

I was in an RFD in Edinburgh one time day older man came in and asked what was the best airgun to shoot the cats in his garden with . The shop Owner showed him out of the shop.

Didn't we have some idiot come on here a few years back and ask the same question.

The idiot with the airgun 🤔 mind you @Mark Palmer could do with a few lashes. his cat goes after fish in the river 😂🤣😂🤣😂

I saw this on local news but didnt want to give it any legs 🤷🏼‍♂️

Houghton Regis has always had a bit of a reputation, I lived near and in Houghton Regis for quite a few years , sometimes Parkside could be a bit iffy, I had a side window taken out one night driving through there(no idea if airgun, bb gun, catapult or thrown stone/missile... only found broken glass in the car) and my girlfriend had a suspicious dent in her car following a "clang" when driving the same part.
There are some , let's say "challenging" people out there 🤷🏼‍♂️
