I recently bought a new Walther CP88 and, being a newbie, asked a lot of questions. I was told to apply a drop of silicone oil to the top of each +/- 10th cartridge. Is this correct? I'm reading on various forums that silicone oil can create problems with the internal gubbins (apologies for the technical jargon!).
So, this newbie is a little confused and would appreciate some advice, please.

I have owned a CP88 since 1994, and an occasional drop of silicone oil on the top of a Co2 cartridge has kept the internals working nicely. . . About every eighth cartridge will do.

It has fired thousands of pellets during the last 32 years.
Apart from breaking the hammer spring about five years ago it has been very reliable.

Crosman Pellgun oil is what a lot of co2 owners use including myself. Just a few drops around the neck of the cartridge every 6 or 8 cartridges. The only problem with Pellgun oil is the tube WILL leak once it's opened, so best kept in a resealable plastic bag
