Hi everyone,

I’m after some help from the community I hope I’m in the right place.

My dad passed away 8 years ago, he was into his hunting always going on the weekends.
I have been clearing the garage out and have come across 4 or 5 air rifles and different scopes, monocular, pellets and other stuff.
I don’t have any pictures currently but I know one is a bsa and a logun.

Is it possible anyone could give me some advice on how to go about selling them? I would prefer doing it in person because I’m not so sure about having to to pack and post

I am based in Coalville, Leicestershire.
Thank you once again

Liam

If they've been in a garage for a decade, and you have no means of testing or servicing them, I think your options and potential value are reduced.

Assuming you don't want to remain on the forum and use it long term, and therefore won't build up post count to qualify for the classifieds on here, so:

Local gun shops or auctions if you just want to offload them. Some gun shops take on SOR / comission sales, or may buy in if serviceable.

Gun star or gun trader online allow private sellers.

For pellets and other related bits, eBay, Facebook marketplace or other used sales platforms.

The sales section on here is for contributing members only, so the above recommendation of Gunstar/Guntrader is your best bet, but as they can be a scammers paradise you may simply be better taking everything to a couple of RFDs and selling to the one who will give you the most - which is likely to be around half their private value, but it will be far safer and easier for you and will have no come back (y)

As above, if you post a picture of each and a description of anything written on the gun and scope then we can give you an idea of the value bearing in mind condition and based on them working properly, if they have been sitting for some time that could be greatly reduced

Hope you get it sorted (y)

Gun Trader is easy enough to use. Just take the usual precautions when dealer with any chancers. But in my experience, it's easy and not had any issues. Or by all accounts if you get to 50 meaningful posts here, you get access to the sales section

I don't want to stick my neck out too far as a relatively new member myself, but would the OP be allowed to post pics and ask for valuations on each of the guns? If so he could soon get to 50 posts and then may go on to decide whether or not to list them in the for sale section on forum or sell them somewhere else. I don't know whether that would be within the spirit of the 50 posts rule but I for one like looking at old guns and reading what experts on here think about them including valuations and I'm sure none of us would want the OP to get ripped off. If it's not within the spirit it would still make for content that would interest some of us. Mods feel free to remove this post if it also isn't within the spirit.

They are absolutely OK to seek valuations. Anything more than that they should pm the mods for advice.

It would probably be worth checking each over a chronograph. This gives a good idea of internal condition, makes sure you are legal and is useful information when selling.

Someone closer to you might come along, but I'm only in Swadlincote if you need a hand.

With Coalville being a fairly central location I would hope some forum members might show interest and give advice after having eyeballed the guns.
The offer from @GTS_Dan , with a post count of 952, is worthy of consideration.
In many cases, guns will be low value made worse by neglect , but the chance of discovering a nugget keeps us all panning for gold.

Hi Dan, thank you for the reply!
they are in Swadlincote currently but I have moved to Coalville

Thank you every one for your replies!
I appreciate the help.

I will take pictures and include any numbers and writing that’s on each one and post it to this forum
I aim to get that done one evening this week.

Once again thank you
Liam

Ah ok. Well the offer stands. I've got a chronograph and a safe place to test them, or could bring the chrono to you. Just DM me if you need (y)
Or if you need any help identifying them I'm about most evenings

Thank you Dan I appreciate that a lot! I’ll get some photos taken and get them posted up one day this week and then go from there 👍
