Its not the fitting of the things ,its sorting them out!
Just got a full set and a reg set for a DRS ,that comes in 3 bags.
1 marked reg,the other 2 make up the full set.
Bags marked with FX sticker/label dont think made up by well know vendor.
Its so hard to work out whats what, who as a oring gauge? i do my best with digital calipers and defo some of these orings are not correct size, even sizes in there that are not used.
If you take a old oring off you cant really depend on that to gauge by.
Then you get the shore 70 and 90 of same size. its ok if you have half a dozen but when you have nearly 30!
Is it really that hard for the company to mark the bags? not asking for individual bags BUT why not put large with small so its easy to work out.
I have some that are 8x1 and 8x1.5 and 8x2...... yet i have 8x1.7s and 8.2s plus spot on 1.5s all to close for a novice like me ,then throw in the 70 and 90.

You might also find wring size O rings, additional O rings and missing O rings in these kits from well known suppliers.

Regarding the section, you have to account for manufacturing tolerances so unless they're well out round to the nearest standard sizes (typically 1.5, 1.6, 1.78, 2.0, 2.5 and 2.62mm are found on airguns).

Seal kits can be an absolute nightmare and I've had plenty come in with guns for re-sealing that have bourne little to no resemblance to what should be there / actually fits. Tbh it's insulting how bad some kits are and in the past I've urged owners to return them as unfit for purpose.

Kits for FX should be OK since the brand's good for publishing O-ring specs so anyone making up third-party kits should just be able to order using this info, however some still apparently manage to get it wrong and FX have occasionally listed the wrong sizes too.

I've wasted literally hours trawling through aftermarket seal kits trying to sift out the few that actually fit; so now I refuse to use any O-rings other than those I've sourced myself off the back of known-good manufacturer data and / or sizes I've ascertained myself.

Approaching it this way is the only way to be sure; and occasionally you'll even find better-fitting alternatives to those specced by the manufacturer themselves.

All that said I appreciate this isn't particularly viable for owners who just want to reseal one rifle. I do offer a few seal kits when I've seen a gap in the market / there seems to be demand, although I'm only prepared to do this for guns I know well (so can be 100% sure of the sizes) and am aware that other folks on here do similar so don't want to tread on anyone else's toes.

Have you checked the contents of your kit against the specs on the FX website? At least this should give you a definitive way of checking the contents of the seal kits, rather than attempting to second-guess what's on there by trying to measure crusty / stretched seals removed from the gun.

Good luck :p

The old O ring dilemma. By my reasoning the specification falls into these parts:
Material: Composite rubber, fully synthetic, ..........
Shore hardness: Scale of the penetration / distortion force required........
Dimension: OD / ID, difference the wall thickness +/- tolerances.......
Colour:
Other: ?
Relying on the manufacturer of the airgun to provide the correct replacement is by far the best option.
Note: You need to deal with the manufacturer to be precise, not always possible.
The packaging for precise compatibility needs to cross the exploded drawing identifier to the part label?
Selection by the owner depends on the courage of your convictions.
Never easy!

I feel your pain, Ive hundreds of o rings but never have the right size!! I’ve just got a small cone suggested off member, that you drop the o ring onto to aid more accurate measurements

The seal suppliers I’d recommend are @ped on here, all the kits I’ve had from him have been spot on, Robert Lane seal kits are good too and Daystate aren’t too bad, although you get too many seals, at least you get the correct ones.

Many of the seals are obvious if you’re able to use a manufacturers list or diagram and measure with a set of callipers.

There’s a O ring data section in the stickies in the tech section which forum members who are willing to help others out have contributed to. It’s not an exhaustive list and to be honest I have a lot more information to include on there when I get round to it. If you have O ring data that will help others feel free to add it.
