I hope this is not classed as a forbidden power topic?
I so i presume it will be removed or unreplied to,both welcome.

Read that getting the most effiecient performance is to match the hammer spring adj to reg setting.
That is done by finding the power you want or very near THEN adj the hammer spring upwards untill it rises to more, that is the sweet spot.
But that might deed the reg to to lowered, then adj hammer again and so on.
If i have read this correct and above is correct on each round of adjustments where do you start with hammer spring tension? fully backed off or mid?
Also read that rifles can come withen limits back way off shot count wise. so trying the above would be a worthwhile exercise.
easy to remember and note starting positions.

Personally I don't do it that way, I do the Lane 5 bar step as I think it uses far less air and pellets plus having done it many times I find it very easy and fast.

@jeffsky sub12airgunners youtube channel has an excellent video on the method I think you are talking about. I assume you would start with low reg pressure and hammer backed off.

Just re-reading your OP, if you start with the reg already set then I think you may be in danger of not being set to the ideal operating pressure and therefore in danger of exceeding the sub 12 limit unless you are talking about FAC in which case wrong forum and I'm out 😁

All well and good if your reg is trend free , creep free and the plenum pressure will not vary with temperature.
