H&N News! Introducing the H&N Hornet Pistol .177 – a new player in the world of airgun pellets!

Ok, I'll bite. I'll try a tin for the Hell of it - the quarterbore version proved surprisingly accurate in the 90k. Be interesting to see what the 98 Tyrolean does with them, though they're likely to be far more expensive than the RWS R10 Match that I currently use, so unlikely to be changing brands any time soon. (Can't see them being any more effective against quarry than R10, at the distances I shoot anyway)...

Could be useful for a lower powered hunting rifle as well. Although I agree, a lower weight dome would be perfect
820 fps for 11.5 ft/lbs is well in the fun zone for quarry, though I doubt that's fast enough to offer any advantage over a dome or wadcutter. I'm sure @H&N Sport will correct me if I'm wrong, but surely it would need a lot more velocity to exhibit drastic expansion and I was under the impression that diabolo pellets become unstable when approaching transonic velocities...

Christmas is surprisingly just around the corner and we wanted to take the last opportunity this year to introduce you to a new product: The H&N Hornet Pistol in .177 caliber
The H&N Hornet has enjoyed continued popularity among recreational shooters for several years. However, due to its length, it cannot be used in all airguns, especially not in the ever-popular CO2-operated pistols with rotary magazines. Moreover, its weight often prevents its use in relatively low-powered airguns.

This problem prompted us to revisit our drawing board and make a shorter version. The body and tip both need to be adjusted so that the center of gravity is in the right place and the overall balance is right. In addition, the new pellet should continue to “work” in the target as usual. Finally, the smaller lead bodies and brass tips have to be fed flawlessly into the joining machine and put together. With a maximum length of 5.35 mm, the new H&N Hornet Pistol fits seamlessly into any standard rotary magazine.

The weight is reduced to 7.7 grains, making it suitable for lower-power airguns. It is still a member of the Hornet family and thus packs a powerful punch with its brass tip and hollow point, ensuring easy penetration and controlled deformation on impact. The first shops in Europe are already offering the H&N Hornet Pistol and there are more on a cargo ship halfway across the Atlantic.

That’s it from H&N for this year, dear airgun aficionados.

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Despite its name, the H&N Hornet Pistol is not exclusively designed for pistols. It is also suitable for rifles with shorter magazines. In addition, the pellets are ideal for plinking fun with the popular replicas of "real" pistols and revolvers available from UMAREX, ASG and similar manufacturers.

Think I'll give these a miss. The excellent (and cheap) Excite Econ's are fine in all my pistols

Obviously the pistol branding feels questionable in our market. the main selling point being expansion and penetration which you’ll get bugger all of in a 6ft/lb pistol even at near point blank range. The .25 Hornets were something of a surprise in that they actually seem to work well at sub12, so happy to give them a try on a future order, but doubt they will replace FTT/Baracuda for me in any calibre.

Considering pistols are primarily used for target shooting, in this country anyway, because of the power restrictions i'm a little puzzled as to why you'd introduce a pellet for pistols of a style that is intended for hunting or where high penetration is needed.
Good point Pat i was thinking the very same thing 🙂👍
