Greatest Comedian.

Mike Reid and Tommy Cooper for me, off the top of my head.

I used to like watching old Norman Wisdom films with Nan.

Billy Connolly and Dave Allen

I went to see Reginald D Hunter recently and he had the audience laughing while he wasn't doing anything - Tommy Cooper was the master of that.

The greatest for me would be Will Hay, Spike Milligan and of course Mr Stanley Laurel & Mr Oliver Norvell Hardy

An hard one to answer I know. Who do you think is or was the best of the best? For me it has to be Ken Dodd.
ill second that...an audience with ken dodd best ever i still watch both now and again

I don't think there is a greatest as everyone's sense of humour is different.
I can't stand Lee Evans but Emo Phillips used to crack me up.

It is all very subjective - needs at least a short list.
My first offering - which I might revise later...

Billy Connolly
Dave Allen

Russ Noble - has nobody mentioned him yet?

Morecambe and Wise - of course

Bob Newhart and Victor Borge for their soliloquies.
Ever seen this?

My favourite TV comedy show for many years has been
"Have I Got News For You."
Not to everybody's tastes, of course - but humour is very personal.

Good question. I still have basic queries about the length of string.
Piece-Of-String.webp

My all time favourite is Spike Milligan, but today I enjoy Sarah Millican and Micky Flanagan.
I used to get dragged along by my wife to see TV shows being filmed at studios in Wembley. Bruce Forsyth was brilliant he didn't use a comedian to warm his audience up, he did it himself, and was great when there was dead time too

Bob monkhouse. I have his book by the

my mom met Forsyth years ago, probably early 60s. He marched into the Ladies changing room/loo, wherever the venue was and started saying "come on ladies the shows starting soon, out you get, come on"... chasing them out of the changing room/cloak rooms into the venue where the show was soon to start.. he was a class act and no mistake- legendary.
