Great Older Classic Movies to Watch.... Recommended

CONTROVERSIAL BE AWARE.
Maigret: the French Series staring Bruno Cremer. Feature length episodes of brilliant casting, script and photography. Captured the darker and seedier side of life in Paris and beyond.

Any of the Michael Caine/Harry Palmer films
Especially "The Ipcress File" (original). I watched it just last week, superb film. I loved the scene where Ross and Dalby (who clearly despise each other) are meeting in a large, empty office - Ross's final words before he leaves are "Very good tea". It completely nails the Britishness of the film, and the class difference between Palmer and his "superiors".

Whisky Galore! The 1949 version, not the ghastly modern version.
Dunkirk, the 1958 version, again not the pathetic modern version.
Zulu, of course.
Alien. It was horrific at the time it came out, well to me anyway.
I must also mention Battle of Britain, 1969.
All greats, and many more I've forgotten, I'm sure.
