Gopherus polyphemus. Federally listed as threatened. One of my daughter's ranch visits turned up my favorite reptile. This tortoise lives on Payne's Prairie, which was one of Florida's earliest vaquero ranches (Spanish) in the 1600s and is state protected land today.
